To be honest I never really got into Springstein.All though the few songs I've heard on the radio are great.He is an excelent song writer and a good musician.I'm gonna use this set to get more aquianted with his music.I bet it's great.I'm sure I'll find more songs of his I'll like on here.Thanx.

Not to discredit ramrod75's work here (this is indeed a labor of love) but I'm not sure I understand the point of a collection like this. It's not presented in chronological order and there really doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to this set. It's just a 54-disc collection of seemingly randomly presented songs from a wide variety of source tapes in varying degree of quality.
 I'm a big fan - so much so that my friends cannot think of Springsteen without immediately associating the name with me. I've seen 36 Springsteen concerts over the years, I've got about 1100 hours of "brucelegs," and I've read enough books about the man that I can now find factual errors in new biographies. As good as his studio albums are (at least up through '87), his legacy is largely built on his live show. The Hammersmith '75 show from the Born to Run tour has now been officially released on CD and DVD and, for the uninitiated, I'd suggest starting there. Then pick up one of the radio broadcasts from the '78 tour and one of the soundboards from The River tour. My recommendations: '78: The Roxy, Los Angeles The Agora, Cleveland The Capitol, Passaic  The Fox, Atlanta Winterland, San Francisco '80 Arizona State University Nassau Coliseum (the Dec 29 and 31 shows sound great and are different enough to warrant downloading both) Use the link in PonchoVilla's post to download these boots. |
