O.K., I've been seeing some posts asking for audio encoding programs and decided to sticky this so anybody who needs a free program can download this. Links to warez or cracks are prohibited on these forums, i'm giving people fair warning.
Anyway, here's is the link to the last legit free version of dBpowerAMP, version 10.1. It says dMC-r10.exe but it's 10.1.

You're not really missing anything with version 10.1 that's in 11.5.
I've been using version 10.1 for a long time and never had a problem with it.
Now if you want to use a newer version of the Lame mp3 codec with version 10.1.... here's what you do: Download my zip file, it includes the .dll files for Lame 3.96 and 3.97 beta.
Once dBpowerAMP is installed go to: program files>Illustrate>dBpowerAMP>Compression>Lame you'll see the lame_enc.dll in the Lame folder which will be version 3.93(which comes with dBpowerAMP 10.1), make a BACKUP of the 3.93 version, create a new folder in the lame folder title it 3.93 or anything you want and place your backup there. Now you can take the 3.96 version or the 3.97 version and put it in the lame folder.
That's it, now you have a newer version of the Lame mp3 codec and there's no 30 day limit(trial license) on it. This is all free and legit.
You can download other Lame codec versions from here:
http://www.free-codecs.com/Lame_Encoder_download.htm.
Download the version you want and unzip it, you only need the lame_enc.dll in the zip. What I do is create backup folders for each version right in the Lame folder when I test new versions. The last official non beta release is 3.96, you'll notice it's slightly slower than 3.93 when encoding, as is 3.97, but supposedly it's better quality, I couldn't hear it personally.
When you drop a new version of the lame codec in the Lame folder go to start>programs>dBpowerAMP Music Converter>configuration>dmc configuration. A dialog box will open showing you what release you have of dBpowerAMP and if you scroll down it'll show you the codecs you have installed and what versions they are, you can check your Lame codec version here.
If you want more codecs besides the lame mp3 codec for dBpowerAMP go here:
