Gordon Lightfoot: The Legendary Soundstage Special 1975 (Quite Rare)

Gordon Lightfoot: The Legendary Soundstage Special 1975

Lightfoot is a different kind of post for here I know. This is noteworthy because he rarely performed a concert in the first place so to have a bootleg of this caliber is worth having.

One of the rare Lightfoot concerts Lightfoot performed. Noteworthy is Ghosts Of Cape Horn (the first performance ever of this one).

01 - Intro
02 - Cotton Jenny
03 - The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald
04 - Endless Wire
05 - Summertime Dream
06 - Speech
07 - Don Quixote
08 - If You Could Read My Mind
09 - Ghosts Of Cape Horn
10 - Beautiful
11 - Hangdog Hotel Room
12 - Sundown
13 - Band Intro
14 - Early Morning Rain
15 - Whisper My Name
16 - On The Tv
17 - Old Dan's Records
18 - Canadian Railroad Trilogy

PBS is probably the only place you would see him.......did not like the fame at all. Kind of reminded me of Jim Croce too.....he just didn't like to make a fuss.
You could see Lightfoot every once and a while throughout Canada somewhere.....that he did like to do. Would have liked to have seen him myself.....thanks for putting this one up for everyone.

I'm sure some of the "diehard rawkers" will groan over this one, but variety is always good. Love Lightfoot! Saw him twice at the legendary Massey Hall in Toronto....perfect acoustics. He does 6 nights each year either in the spring or in the fall. One of th enights was his birthday....special venue, special songwriter!

Cheers for this one. Will make a nice bookend with the early official live album he did.

Thanks!

From an ex-patriot Canajun, now Down Under, this makes me a bit nostalgic. Saw him in Guelph in 1970 with my girlfriend, she dumped me soon after so he always has a bitter-sweet spot in my heart.

Many thx

Now this is something you don't see every day. Didn't even know bootlegs of Lightfoot's concerts exsisted. My mum will be chuffed with this as she loves Gordon Lightfoot, and so do I. Great post, thanks.

thanks itsjustme1 for the file and Asso for the thoughtful re-up. love Gord's gold.

one small correction however: this stage performance took place in the fall of 1979, and not during 1975. songs like Endless Wire, Ghosts Of Cape Horn, Hangdog Hotel Room, and On The TV (later to become On The High Seas as found on the Dream Street Rose album) did not yet exist in 1975.
