How to fix distorted audio (Please Help)

I have a good live audio show and the levels were set too high and most of the show is distorted.

Is there any way to fix this problem?

Any free programs online that does this?

Thanks

Unfortunately, there is no way to repair your audio. The "hot" signal sucks, but it is probably clipped. Look at the signal in a Wave Editor and you will see the problem.

Sorry :-(

Thanks for the info.

It sucks to have to throw away what could have been a really nice audio recording.

Someone needs to design a program to fix "clipping".

jcgm97 is an unknown quantity at this point
Hot or 'overdriven' audio cannot be fixed. You can reduce the signal strength but the distortion is already 'married' to the file.

So there isn't any way of getting a "divorce"?

The show sounds good and then the levels bury sounding like being in a wind tunnel. The show sounds good again and then another wind tunnel. This happens during every song.

Thank you all for your help on this.

My other question...........

If anyone owns a Zoom H2 digital recorder...........do you have a creative method of attaching the recorder to your body so you don't have to hold the recorder during a live show?

Do they make a special bag with shoulder strap that would work for this application?

Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks

well of course one can get distortion off of an audio track. whenever i put in a Deicide disc or something, i press a little button, and *poof* all the guitar tracks sound just like George Benson.

is this stuff really that tough to understand? the signal is distorted, and that signal is the signal. its distorted. thats what it is.

Ya, its pretty basic. It was recorded too high, and that IS the recording. If one channel is better than the other, I guess you could keep that side and make a mono recording out of it. You can play with the EQ a bit to see if you can kinda "mask" the distorted treble signals. But if it sounds like a "wind tunnel", its probably garbage.

Compression takes away some of the clipping on vocals.
