Doing a little travel through time tonight.. We'll call this one "Birth" of Journey....

70's Journey for me is it. This is by far a boot I've wanted to post here for awhile. Tracks 14,15,16 are a visit to the diamond head crater on 1-1-73 which some in Journey circles call "Happy Birthday" Herbie Herbert interviews tell that when him and Carlos Santana split during Christmas in 72' he grabbed Neal and Gregg and took them to a gig 5 days later in Hawaii on New Years Day in 73' (the three tracks here) and in March of 73' drew up the paperwork on a band yet un-named that would become Journey.

Tracks 1-13 are studio mixes which would be reworked and would form Journey's first album... My iPod can't get enough of this one. If you hate journey but love great guitar work, this is for you. Neal does a killer rendition of "Voodoo Chile". If you love pre-perry era Journey, and don't have this... grab it and listen! It's truely historical music....

how did you know the names of the missing tracks? this is so rare for this early band. they arent anywhere else. id love to hear more live or studio stuff of this version of the band. perry is a wuss.

THe way the story was passed down to me this Hawaii, 1973 concert is that the band was billed as Pete Sears, Neal Schon, Gregg Errico (SSE), with Rolie guesting on several tracks. The confusion about the band name is probably that somewhere someone used the boot name as band name. As I said before.. I´ll post a more complete version soon. Uploading as I type this.
