Journey Live - Aug 9, 1979 Chicago IL

One of my favorite incarnations of Journey with Gregg Rollie from Santana. Maybe someone out there likes some of the late 70's Journey so here you go. I'll post it in sections as size permits.

Old Journey did sound good. It started out sort of fusion, then rock, then pop and now I think they're trying to get it back to rock. (Thank you JRNY...) Much different than Van Halen which has pretty much been true to it's hard hitting rock roots over the years.

Like I mentioned above, If anyone has Cover Art for this it would be appreciated. I found a small sample on another website but there wasn't a way to contact the owner of the site. Posted the best image I could find.

While the dates don't match up the set list matches the Rubicon Rel Master w/artwork - or the Ind Evol art is there also.

Hello all

Could someone please upload this but not in Megaupload as I can`t use that for some reason, it just comes up with error.
I would be very grateful as it`s one of my favourite boots to which I burnt to disc then deleted file without checking disc and now disc won`t work.

Thanks in advance

The 8/9/79 show is one of my favorites too. I love the fact Journey use to play "Winds of March" back then.

In an Austin show I recorded (and will eventually upload) in 2002 (I think), during the Under The Radar Tour, I went to the venue early and got to meet Ross Valory. During their soundcheck, which unfortunately "Ass Bologna" (i.e. "Ask The Lonely" was jokingly called this by Dean Castronovo) was the only full song I got to record due to an MD malfunction. At the end of the soundcheck, Neal started playing "Winds of March". When I met Ross Valory after the soundcheck and asked him if that was in their lineup for the show that day he said it unfortunately wasn't.

It was the next year in Austin I got to meet Neal at the same venue and ask him if they were ever going to play "Winds of March" live again. He didn't really answer that question. He also didn't remember the previous year when he sat on the same stage and began playing it (I'd be surprised if he did), but I sure remember it. And I also remember it didn't make the soundcheck recording the previous year either

Thanks very much!

I've found some smallish thumbnails of boot-cover art for this concert via creative Google searching, but if you are still looking for some alternate artwork to go with this, I'd be happy to put something together for you... let me know what you have in mind. It's the least I can offer in meager thanks for the treasures I've found via folks on this site. Thanks again!
