Anyone remember that scandal about them replacing Nikki Sixx in the mid eighties with a stand in while he got over a drug problem or something? I remember everyone talking about it at school when I was 14. Kerrang had pictures showing the two different "Nikkis"...anyone remember what came of that? or what really happened?

From my recollections, that was not the whole story ... I think that started out of the one guy telling everyone he was the real Nikki Sixx and that the band did substitute a fake Nikki to get rid of him ... the real Sixx sued him and had restraining orders and medical attention brought down on the guy!

Does anyone have that story down right?

Thanks Beasty, Sheds a little more light on it...yeh I remember now, someone claiming he was fired ... weird rock story that if you saw it in Spinal Tap you'd laugh!!

Awesome show...

That guy that said he was Nikki Sixx was named Matthew Trippe... he was from Florida and part of the deal was that you never see Nikki's face on the Theater of Pain album...

I'm sure if you Google that name, you'll find his story on the internet someplace.

(This is my first post BTW... nice board.)
