Comment: Outtakes From Outer Space
Ahh Outtakes from Outer Space!! The fisrt RoIO I recieved! It is an exellant roio for starters who wish to hear what The Pink Floyd (w/ Syd) sounded like. Most of it is from live performance, but some are studio outtakes. The sound quality is very good, but I think most of these can be found on other recordings, in better quality, but what makes this recording special to me (beside the the fact that it was my first) is the track listing. All of Syd's works (with the exeption of course of the cover of Slim Harpo "I'm a King Bee").
What makes this recording a must, imho, is the two studio outtakes from 1967 (from the Piper at the gates of Dawn studio recording sessions) track 5 Experiment (also known as Sunshine) and track 14
Silas Lane (wich was later recycled by syd as Swan Lee (Silas Lang)for his solo album).
Especially that last one, AMAZING!!! The only drawback is that it is too short (1:16).
Makes you wonder how they would have sound as finished tracks on the PatGoD lp) But, they also include a rare outtake of Milky Way, wich isn't a Floyd outtake but rather a rare Syd solo outtakes (strangely enough they didnt date it, my guess would be 1970 for the madcap
session)

The very first recorded concert in Holland. And the only one with Syd. The sound is a little bad, but they played very good. A very important concert, because within a short time Syd was replaced by David!! Enjoy this concert!!!!!!!

Notes:
Daybreak and Work were not recorded. This is the longest and lowest generation tape of this
show known. No processing, filtering, or noise reduction was done to this, as you can probably tell. This recording might be a little fast (it sounds it to me, but I'm just guessing), and there is a nasty hiss in the 8k range that many circulating copies of this show have filtered out. Despite the hiss, this has clearer sound than other copies of this
show.

Comments: I find this to be one of the more underestimated gigs.
Some have said the performance is sloppy, but this is an incredible
performance and setlist.
An interesting thing about this recording is the running order, which
seems to be the correct one according to "In The Flesh." Unfortunately,'Atom Heart Mother', the earliest know audience recording of this song, still runs a little short. As for sound quality, it is at best average...
VG- to VG seems like a good rating. It's very listenable, cymbals come
through nicely. It's quite comparable to Biding My Time In Croydon, but this doesn't have as much hiss and is in the right running order.
The tracks do not include tuneups, since there is evidence that the
taper stopped his recorder between songs. The recording levels are
occasionally inconsistent as well. Still, it's very nice to have this
show in the proper order.

notes:
nothing but a de-hissed version of the Leeds recording.
Also, a different speed-correction was used by the Ayananami guys (the original source should be faster both than this and the HRV version). Ayanami never corrupts the recordings so much with their remasterings, the filters they use are usually pretty good, but if you've already 6 of 1 I can't see a good reason to get this.

Comments:
Another excellent release... this is a 4th generation source... other releases of this show don't even compare to this one (so far). It's longer than others (just extra taper chatter) but is still missing the last 2 songs (I believe they have never been recovered)... This one has a bit of hiss but it's nothing like the other hissy releases that were put out... contains also the excellent performance of a very early "Return of The Son Of Nothing".

a bit hissy.
volume up and down sometimes.
quite enjoyable SQ.
The Dark Side Of The Moon (Eclipse) is not 'officially' performed yet ... you can still feel the work in fieri and little hesitancies during the performance ... though Gilmour seems not to mess up lyrics here.
Echoes unfortunately is cut before the end.
