Setlist:

1. Bambi
2. When You Were Mine
3. Jack U Off
4. Uptown (instrumental)
5. Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad

a nice write up of the preceeding gig and the 11th oct. show.

Date: 09-10-1981
City: Los Angeles
Venue: Memorial Coliseum
Country: USA
Type: Support Act
Comment:

Billed as the first support act the band took the stage at 2:00PM. During the third song people started throwing paper cups and other things on the stage, making it impossible to continue and they left the stage after 15 minutes. Directly after this Prince flew back to Minneapolis, determined to not perform the 11-10 show. It took a long phonecall from Dez Dickerson to persuade him to return to Los Angeles.

Comment:

After the disaster from the first show this one went even worse. During the first song people started to throw thing, probably becauses of what happened 2 days earlier. After 15 minutes they left the stage. Prince decided to cancel his remaining opening shows for The Stones.

This is just amazing. I've heard of this happening but never thought I'd get to hear it.

It's just great to get your hands on a little piece of history.

Thanks a bunch.

Interesting ... From the review it's saying that the ENTIRE set list was played but from what I've read in books and read in terms of reviews, P & The Band didn't finish the set becuz of the rowdy crowd who 4 some reason wasn't "FEELING" Prince. Uptown Magazine and other sites wrote about this show so how is there a COMPLETE Set List?

2 be honest I thought the same. Prince did 2 shows the 9th October and the 11th. This claims 2 be the 11th October show, but everything I've read on the subject suggest he played 15min on the first night but only 3 songs on the second. So I'm thinking this may be the 9th October show.

Whichever it is I'm glad 2 have it.

princeinfo dot net (sorry - can't post links yet ) reports a 15 minute running time for the gig on the 9th and 20 minutes for the 11th - somewhat contrary to the generally accepted story but may support this being the 11th as originally stated.

I certainly can't vouch 100% for their info (and am not in any way affiliated with them) but I often use the site as a resource for information and find that it checks out with other sources.

Whichever date this turns out to be, I'm really grateful to pietz for sharing it here and allowing us to hear this piece of Prince history.
