When Prince announced his summer residency at London's O2 Arena fans all over Europe
began working out how many shows they could attend.
A small group of friends wondered how many they could record.
The idea took hold and it was decided to attempt to record every single show.
We very nearly did it.
Equipment was bought, tickets booked and schedules made. It turned out only 1 date was unable to be
recorded by the group and so has been sourced from a circulating recording. [August 24th O2 show sourced from The Trader's
Den - many thanks]
Unfortunately the aftershow from this date does not appear to have been recorded, and is therefore missing from the set.
It was decided to not release any of the recordings until after the run ended, simply to not give publicity to the act
and potentially increase security.
The intention from the start was release every recorded show via online distribution, so the greatest number of fans could
acquire them for free.
This was always about the music and spreading it as widely as possible.
The second aim was to show what a group of regular fans could achieve with some dedication and cooperation.
None are "professional" tapers but the results have been more than could have been originally hoped for.
With each seed there will be samples posted so you can compare against other sources and also see if you have already managed
to acquire this source from the earlier uploads. We wanted to use our own sources wherever possible, but if you prefer
an alternate source no-one will be offended.
Artwork for each volume will be provided, as well as artwork for a six disc case DVD set for those that prefer to archive
that way.
Thanks to everyone who contributed - the tapers, the tweakers, the seeders/uploaders as well as the moral support.
The result could not have been achieved without each and every one of you.
