WOW!!!!! have been a Prince fan since 84ish.....always read about this gig but never imagined I would hear it...Thank you soo much!!!! Quality isnt that bad..U can hear everything he's playing along with some great quotes from the recorder!!!! I believe this is the 2nd gig he played there??? a far heavier set than the first 'booing' off!! whats our chances of hearing that one???? again Thanks a million for the posting!!!! peace be wild!!
I've known about this show for awhile now. Just never heard it. Thanks for sharing fifty7! It's exciting to hear this. Anyone have the May 30, 1986 Los Angeles Hit and Run show? From the Wiltern Theatre? They released clips of the show in npgmusicclub but I've since heard the entire show was going around on a boot called "Caught in a Hit and Run"... Anyone heard it?
I consider this the 2nd most historically important single performance in Prince's career - behind only the August 3, 1983 First Avenue benefit for the Minnesota Dance Theater. As such, this would be an incredible find regardless of the recording quality. But in fact it's quite listenable - the poster's modesty to the contrary. And since, despite the quality of the band's playing, the main interest is the crowd's reaction, this being an audience tape actually works to its advantage.
