Prince : Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, Paris 12-07-88"The Sun Came Up This Morning"
As U've probably figured out by now I have a "Thing" about the Lovesexy tour but all I'm gonna do with this one is let Databank tell U about it. ![]() Databanks Comment: "Previously available on the incomplete 2cd fan release 'Blues In Paris' this is something of a shocker for various reasons. This particular release contains the encore section which the previous 2cd release did not. Add to this the fact the concert itself lasts a little under 3 hours and you have a pretty exceptional release documenting one of the longest shows of Prince's career. Whilst the recording is superior to the Blues In Paris version, it perhaps won't be to everyone's taste. It starts off reasonably well and worthy of a VG+ rating, however as the show progresses it deteriorates to a VG (if that) - and it's for that reason I have averaged it out to a VG recording above. The crowd level in parts is rather obtrusive, and whilst Prince is audible throughout, he does get a little lost in the audience noise on occasion - most notably when he is talking to the crowd. The sound quality issues aside, the show itself really cannot be faulted and to class it as stunning really does not do it justice. As the tour is still in it's infancy there are many changes to the set-list still to take place, and many of the versions performed here are either vastly different to the versions performed as the tour went along, or they were dropped completely. Personal highlights include a far more focused 'Blues In C', a very lengthy 'Anna Stesia' lasting over 11 minutes including some ferocious guitar work and an unusually long 12 minute 'Purple Rain'. The main appeal of this particular release (improved sound quality aside) is the inclusion of the encore section. 'Positivity' and 'Lovesexy' aside for a minute, the closing 15 minutes is a lengthy horn-led jam containing snippets from a vast collection of songs and is unusually loose and relaxed for a main show. As mentioned previously, the quality of the recording may slightly disappoint some as it's certainly not amongst the best audience recordings of the Lovesexy tour, however the performance and set list is undoubtedly one of the best without question." Anyway like he said sound issues aside, U're gonna like this. ![]() Again no artwork sorry. Download 4 tracklist cuz I'm 2 lazy. 1988- 1- Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, Paris 12-07-88 http://www.mediafire.com/?tlmlgwbzzjk 1988- 2- Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, Paris 12-07-88 http://www.mediafire.com/?l2hdjixf5ha

Another top post. Bit of a thing for the 'Lovesexy' shows as well. Great era.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH
I was at this show with my girlfriend Shinobu before she left France to get back to Tokyo 4 ever ! So a big kiss to her if she see this thread!! i remember she used to sing very well. I remenber i met french pop singer Laurent Voulzy and Michel Jonasz in the toilets between 1 st and 2 nd part of the show. It was a cliché to consider Prince as a genius at that time, even in the french Show Biz. So probably "everybody was there" ... |
