Saw him that year at a small club called Legends in Hartford WI. There was a bout 60 people....a shame because he played his heart for the people who were there. I kind of liked the bluesy feel of No Time.....thanks for this one

This One Goes to 11!!From the "This One Goes To 11" Dept...
I was prepared to hate this recording, simply because James Dewar wasn't the vocalist/bassist...yeah, I know, but I grew up listening to Robin Trower with James Dewar's wonderful voice resonating deeply & soulfully over the top of Robin's way-gone guitar work. I'm glad to say that I was wrong. The sound quality here, without a hint of exaggeration, is a solid 11. This literally is as good as it gets! The performance is spirited, soulful, inspired...wait, let me get my thesaurus!!  ... Robin Trower was still at the top of his game, and the drums & bass are right there, egging Trower on through the wild, spiralling solos and dreamy, atmospheric passages of a 14 minute "Daydream" and an 11 minute "Bridge of Sighs"...WOW!!This is really, really good stuff, and I give it 10+ points. If you like Robin Trower, I highly recommend this boot. And Mega-THANX to whoever UL'ed it!! Hoo-AH!!!! .High*Ping*Drifter. "When in doubt, I whip it out!" |
