A simply stunning recording, big ups to the nephster.
This recording has completely stunned me...it is the
best ever to surface from the SECC and of course will
be up there with the best for the Rush tour 2007.
Tapers notes :
--------------
On the R30 tour I was 9th row centre, this tour I was 10th row centre.
I got a very nice recording on the R30 tour, unusual for the SECC as is
not known for it's acoustics. Since I was only one row further back I
thought the chances of another good recording were pretty good.
However, the seating layout of the SECC had changed, on the R30 tour
there was a gap between the 3rd and 4th rows. This allowed people to
get to their seats a little easier, but on this tour it was no longer there
which meant I was probably 3 rows further forward than last time. I didn't
know if this would be an advantage or a disadvantage. In the end it turned
out to be a huge benefit as I seemed to be in the 'sweet spot', and with
the SECC security staff being extremely lax I could just stand there and record
that wonderful sound. Now, Glasgow is my home town so any Rush show there
is always special, first night of the European tour made it extra special.
Rush were on top form and although they played better shows on the UK leg
if I had a choice this is the one I would want to see again. I'm only glad
it's been captured for posterity for everyone to enjoy.
