vtmishka: Here's the link for the berlin artwork
http://rapidshare.com/files/26318740...in_1979_-_.rar

I somehow like Matthias playing better then MS ( Dun get me wrong, I'm a MS fan too) during these tours, kinda more polished and faithfull to the uli's leads. However, maybe it's due to the fact that Matthias had more time in practicing the older stuffs while MS sougta join in kinda at the last minute thing.Plus, MS was in a bad shape at that point, got burned out from UFO.

I just wonder if MS is in the state as Matthias( sober, healthy, more time), his playing would be a lot more awesome!( however, nothing can be compared to Uli in 1978 still )

Good point about Matthias staying closer to Uli's leads. I've found that it's one good way to tell who's playing.

I think you're also right about Michael's condition during this time. Nonetheless, in the Berlin show that I heard (barely - poor audio quality) his playing sounded pretty good.

Cheers for your uploads!

Now, you wouldn't happen to have any of the other shows on the Lovedrive tour with Michael, by any chance?
:-)

is somebody already heard about the fact that finally m. schenker didn't only played in 3 songs in lovedrive, there's a rumour that he finally played on 5 songs.

-lovin' you sunday morning
-another piece of meat
-coast to coast
-can't get enough
-lovedrive

it's suppose that mathias played some solos in can't get enough and lovin' you sunday morning but i have to listen again these, there's 2 lead breaks in lovin' you... and maybe also 2 others in can't get enough, i'll listen to these again tonight to be sure and for those who really can makes the difference between mathias and michael you'll heard it!

It's interesting to hear this because I haven't heard it in a long time.

I too seem to remember that he played on 5 songs. I remember this from the days when the LP first came out (no internet to double check things!) so I must have read it on the back of the LP.

I can almost visualize it...

Well, there we go, you've started me on a new research path!!

yes, VTMISHKA, another investigation i think.

finally i had time to listen to the songs lovin' you sunday morning and can't get enough.

i'm quite sure that the first lead break in lovin' you... is michael and the second is mathias.

for can't get enough it's finally surely mathias.

but as i told, it was suppose to be 5 songs that michael played, maybe he just made rythm and/or guitar fills on another song, i'm not sure.

i had to download the songs i just listened to because my cd's are in boxes, i have to move in a couple of weeks.

we'll see if other people will tell something about that soon.

take care !

VTMISHKA: I used to have a CD of MS with Scorpions years back but unfortunately, I've lost it Luckily someone posted the Berlin show here.

Something that might be an interets to you guys is that more than a decade ago, I bought their compilation cd "Stil Loving You" ( a compilation of ballads ) and on the booklet it noted that Michael Schenker: guitars on "Holiday". Yeah, the first lead break on 'lovin' you sunday morning' seems to sound like MS playing.Any interesting thing for me is,'Coast To Coast ' live (based on 'super Rock 84' and world wide live), Rudolf played most of the leads and solo's whereas on the album version,MS plays pretty much of the leads and solo's(U could tell by the vibratto's and such). And I defintely read somewhere that MS did play more then 3 songs on 'lovedrive'.

Scorpions does have a number of 'conspiracy theory' kinda thing if you notice, like;who did actually played on 'Love At First Sting', Jimmy Bain/Bobby Rondinelli or Francis/Herman; Jimmy also claimed somewhere that he played on Blackout;Neil Murray involved in the demo-ing process on LAFS.

There it is! That's exactly as I remember it. Holiday and the first lead on Loving You Sunday Morning.

Also, I know that the back of Lovedrive says Michael Schenker - Lead and Rhythm Guitars. See it here:

http://www.coolscifi.com/gallery/fil...-lovedrive.jpg

so I'm sure he played more than just the solos.

As for the Bain/Buchholz (etc.) saga - I just read this interview with Francis yesterday:

http://metal-rules.com/zine/index.ph...sk=view&id=791

He gives the story.

By the way, I did download the 1979 Berlin show with MWS from this site but the quality is not very good (yet, well worth having!). I'm looking for the other Germany show and the Paris show in the hopes that the quality will be at least a bit better. These shows are like the holy grail for me!

Thanks, as always, you come through again!

Thank you very much!

I'm also very interested in oldish stuff from Scorps, especially from 70s era

Interesting question about who played better (Matthias or Michael), but as you properly says Jabs was sober meanwhile Schenker was drunk most of the time...

I have 4 shows [and that should be all with MS] from 1979, with Michael...but canīt really upload anything yet because of my crappy computer...and download isnīt any better, cuts up etc. But Iīll try to get new pc soon, the sooner the better, itīs really irritating to work with this piece of shit...
Never heard that rumour about MS playing more, but it would be understandable, I have few rare interviews from 1979 with Klaus, Michael & Rudolf and thereīs some clues there... They were in pre-production of Lovedrive when Michael entered the picture, so he would have had a change to play more than credited to...
