Both are incredible guitar players. But when you have mastered the guitar like these two players, how exactly do you measure who is "better" than who? Now, if you had chosen to say "I like SRV better than Jeff Beck, his style impresses me more", I would have no argument with you whatsoever.
Having said that, I will watch your YouTube video and I am sure SRV did what he did and sounded great, and that Jeff Beck does what he does and sounded great. Grow up, n00b. Guitar playing is not basketball or some other competitive sport.

Wow, I didn't realize that my personal guitar hierarchy would cause so many people to cry!
That being said, your argument is flawed. Maturity has nothing whatsoever to do with who I perceive to be a better player on a specific song. Furthermore, how is it ignorant to say when someone sounds better than someone else on a specific song?
I own around 120 live shows by SRV and around 40 by Jeff Beck. I don't know how many live shows of theirs you own, but I would bet that you own a lot less than me. If I do own and listen to more of their live music than you, it is you that is ignorant regarding their live shows.
Even a great musician can have a poor show due to fatigue,
injury, drugs, alcohol, or disinterest. On the youtube video I posted, Jeff Beck does not sound great. I have heard many other live versions of this song where Jeff is more interested in jamming than dancing and entertaining the crowd. On the other hand, SRV is absolutely on fire in this version. His solo is exquisite and his top-notch improvisation skills are manifested by the unique sounding version of "I'm Going Down." Watching the video, I think SRV is the centerpiece of the song due to his performance and because SRV, not Beck, is playing lead.
If SRV is great and Beck has a below average performance on this song compared to the other live show I own, then I feel justified in saying SRV blows Beck off the stage. In answer to your question of how I measure this, again, it is because Beck has sounded a lot better on other live shows of this same song.
In response to your accusation that I'm being subjective:
Uh, really? 99.9% of what everyone says is biased. Isn't the whole idea of this forum to trade good music and to exchange ideas and opinions? Every post on this forum regarding the sound quality and performance value is subjective. Maybe you should accuse everyone on here of being a subjective noob.
I never compared playing the guitar to sports so I do not know what to make of your analogy. Nevertheless, some guitarists are better than others. I didn't say SRV is better than Jeff Beck (even though I believe it). All I said was that SRV blew Beck off the stage. I also said I like and respect Beck, but my entire point was that SRV's performance was so amazing that on that specific night he outperformed another so-called guitar god.
I just saw your edit that said SRV has too much treble "for you". Should I label you as a subjective noob now?
Also, since you originally criticized my post before watching the video, doesn't that mean that you wrote in ignorance?
Finally, how am I a noob? Because I own over 700GB of live
classic rock shows that I have been listening to for over 30 years? I am extremely knowledgeable of live music and I would consider myself closer to an expert than a novice on the topic of how great a specific live show is.
I stated my opinion and you personally attacked me... Then you stated your opinion (meaning you did exactly what you said was wrong with my post!) that Beck is better. If you disagree with my assessment that is fine.
But be respectful enough not to call me ignorant, immature, and a noob.
