Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy at Legends

Stevie Ray Vaughan jamming with Buddy Guy at Buddy's nightclub Legends in Chicago. I think the correct date is 7/30/1989. Sound is VERY good. The show is almost an hour long. This is my first upload, hope it works.

You're welcome. I also, have SRV's final encore with Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Vaughan, and Robert Cray. I think Bonnie Raitt was there too. They each took turns soloing on Sweet Home Chicago at Alpine Valley Music Theater just a few hours before he was killed in the helicopter accident. It's also a very good recording.

SRV-Guy AVs

I have a HQ copy of the video tape of this SRV-Buddy Guy gig, and a framed 12x15 photo of Stevie and Buddy playing that night at Legends, along with some smaller pics, with the custom framed presentation including details of the gig, the complete audio including soundchecks CD, and Stevie's and Buddy's autographs from the gig. I also have pics and the audio of when SRV and Buddy played together at Legends back when it was called the Checkerboard Lounge and Stevie was just getting his breaks in the biz.

I have a huge SRV collection, including one SRV's guitars, a SRV "Blackie" hat, 500+ hours of AVs, SRV pics, photos, etc. etc. I mostly acquired my SRV collection the first four years after his tragic death. Thought I'd sit on it 20 years and let it continue to yearly appreciate in $ value. I saw SRV in concert 12 times, met him 3 times, and have seen Buddy play live 6 times. My SRV collection is in controlled climate storage. If interested, the next time I go to my music storage unit I will dig out the aforementioned Legendís et. al. gigs stuff.

As to the Alpine Valley gig where we lost Stevie, I also have an extensive collection including video, audio, pics, my tickets to the gig, backstage pass, the NTSB crash investigation report, crash site pics, SRV estate lawsuit documents, etc. etc. I had tickets to go to that gig, but had just seen SRV a couple of weeks before, and was really busy, so I let one of the guys in my band and his wife go. He called me the next day with the crash news. I just couldn't believe it. Stevie's life was going perfect at the time and he was playing the best music of his career. It took a long time for me to understand why God called him home. It took me five years before I went and saw SRV's grave, and even then it was damn hard.

I attended the SRV tribute Austin City Limits gig (5th row) (have the full uncut/raw master video with all the taping screw-ups) and the special SRV tribute gig two nights later (stage front-just left of center) with Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Vaughan, and others (only have the soundboard audio of this gig). All the pics from the two tribute gigs are mounted in two large photo frames signed by Jimmy Vaughan and Buddy Guy.

I lurk here enough, so donít mind posting a few rare d/lís, just donít now when I will do it. Ė Peace

Whatever you would like to add from your collection would be greatly appreciated here. I know, I for one would like to see some more video of him. It sounds like you have a really good collection.

Any downloads you want to put up will work for me. In 1983 my brother and I were in Toronto on holiday. We went along to this club called the El Mocambo to see some bloke called Stevie Ray Vaughan. What a night that turned out to be! We knew something was going on when we got there and saw how many people were waiting to get in. Never heard of the guy, but liked the blues, so why not. Blown away would be an understatement. Please visit your storage unit soon.
