this black and blue valentine
well to tell you the truth
it is a feeling in this heart of mine

it aches from all of the pain
and yet it still wants to grow
and through all that has happened
it might once again begin to show

but if you stop to take a look
and by chance take time to see
the true meaning of this phrase
then you will know what is inside of me

a black and blue heart
that has been scarred due to time
will someone heal my pains
and make me their black and blue valentine

and let me again feel love
and to remove the chains that bind
so that I won’t be so lost
on these roads of love that wind

one day I will be rescued
and someone will save this heart of mine
and no longer will I be
the black and blue valentine
