Listen up !!!!!!!!!
Whats with all the read threads and lack of responses. Now I speak for many hear who are putting up some good lyrics, work hard on em with lttle or no feedback.
No I know how to get a response, trust me the women will confirm that, but give this thread a chance and give these guys and gals some feedback- don't expect it to be like the rock's- i mean that's like hoping for all the gtr posts to be as good as Joe satch, but be that as it may, how about some more feedback.

Well I'm not in this part of G101 much - perhaps its this area. I could be wrong, but I bet this isnt the most high traffic area of g101. I'm sure its nothing personal tho.

I don't think it is a matter aof traffic because alot of the postings get veiws, people are just not inclined to add comments or feedback on a regular basis...
I am not sure what would generate more posts...maybe some lyric battles to start with..or maybe some of the lyrics and poems to be turned into songs and maybe that would generate more traffic....

the majority of people here come for the guitar aspect of the site. This room is a niche interest room and will not get anywhere near the traffic of the other rooms. Hopefully people like Vanman, Cro, Rain, Dlynn, Wigrocks, Dannyboy, nroberts and many others will continue to post their poetry and lyrics and in time this will generate a new aspect of this site.
Music is not just about guitar it is about structure, form, emotion, impact and so many other factors it doesn't bare trying to list them - to try would rob it of it's magic. This, whilst being a guitar site, has acknowledged the importance of the words. In doing so it means that the content of this particular room is not just some additional add on forum - it actually has a purpose and that is more important than traffic.
More replies would be nice - granted. but the very fact it is up here means that it can provide inspiration and motivation. If I post a lyric and it get no reply ... then so what. I posted it to share. If it inspires one other person to go on and write a poen or song.. job done.
This forum is not going to mean much to someone trying to develop stacked up diatonic thirds but it will be a source of inspiration to anyone looking beyond technique, beyond guitar and maybe inspire them to be songwriters instead of guitarists. I can that development

Lyrics are more personal than a guitar riff or a piece of music played on guitar. That is why lyrics are not posted. Lyrics are not as "fun" as guitar, that's why they arent read more.

Thank you dear. Maybe I'll get some stuff together to post on here. I think all the people who do post their lyrics and/or poems appreciate your kind words.

Oh yes, we do. ^_^ I mean I work hard on the stuff I post here. I mean I do nothing more than write poems and lyrics. over the years I've accumlated such a collection of poems and songs I wrote. Some are just random thoughts. But yeah its nice to get them out into the public eye for the rest of the world to see. Some may need editing because of mis spellings and stuff like that. But that can be fixed over time with Microsoft Word or a really good speller. I've been here what? Almost an y ear. And I haven't stopped posting stuff.
I mainly came here because I wanted to hear a song by Maregoldnhr. But yeah I stayed. Mostly because it was an awsome site and that G101 had a decent poetry/lyrics sessions. I mean I sat in awe at the talent you guys have here. The guitarists, the singers, the lyricsts. I mean I see greats like Van Man, Rain, Flair, Dylnn ( Yes you..) Dannyboy, Nroberts, Goport and WigRocks. I wished I had the balls to do what they do. Make music because they love it.
We all have a song inside of us. But we sometimes need some help to sing it. I got so many songs I want to sing both mine and covers. The songs I want to sing don't come easily. They come at times I don't want them to come. But they still come like a bad storm or a relative you don't really like. I know that was a bad analogy. But I'm so glade to be apart of this site. Van Man, Rain, Dylnn, WigRocks,DannyBoy, Goport. You all inspire to go on with my writing. Without the support of this site I don't think I'd be as good as writing as I am now.
I just want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. And I try to comment on everyones stuff. I LOVE YOU ALL! Sorry, cheap Ozzy line. lol

Yeah, I'm glad its appreciated. I mean its not safe for me to go out anymore. I mean half of the people in my town are like OMFG! Rob, I love your shit!! Write more... lol. Its kinda weird. I know thats kinda off topic. I just find it weird. Because 10 years ago, I was just a dark and depressed being wanting to die on to many occasions. And know I'm loved by everyone its kind of funny. What happens when you put stuff out lyrical or musically that people can vibe too.
As kid you can't really express yourself except through the songs you listen to and the music you listen to. I mean I really started writing when I started listenting to Eminem and Ozzy. I just loved their lyrical form. Both in there respective generations. Had and still are putting out stuff no one has heard before. I mean its you like or don't like it. I mean when you put out a song in text or vox or even just in guitar. You wonder will this be a hit? But thats for the artists mind to decide and the people. Personally, I could care less if I had a hit. I'm putting this out for the world to see.
And I'm like... I could write for a band but why bother? It'd sound so weird having my words coming out from another singers mouth. If I did a song I'd have to sing it. Some other songs of mine probably could be song by others. But this writing instutation has got our young expressing themselves in ways they never thought possible. I mean down the street from you. Could be a young kids mind at work, up in his room writing lyrics. And you don't know if he could be the next Hagar or Hendrix. But us as kids are too scared to show are work together because of the fear of rejection. Thats why I had so much of my stuff hidden.
Our generation needs to keep rockin' ^_^ Remember... "AND THE CRADLE WILL ROCK!!"

ya, it's funny with music. i remember showing a friend a tune, i came up with ... one week later i am invited to his band practice, and he is almost note for note playing it , i'm thinking, first they had some of the notes, but didn't have the feel, second, he didn't give credit for blatantly stealing my tune. I would have been cool if he siad "i copped this idea from Jeff". We all steal to some degree. Just giving credit where credit is due.

Thanks Cro for the kind words. That's very sweet. I think there are so many talented people on here. Many with playing talents as well as many with excellent writing talent. I think we all need to step up our game as far as leaving feedback. I am guilty of it too.

I think this section is still evolving and will do so even further. Recently, I think the section turned a corner though. Rain got to enjoy some other musicians putting her words to song, in one of my all time favorite collaborations on this site. I think the same might have happened for DLYNN.
http://www.guitars101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35625
I think this is a direction that will become more popular and has. Since, that collab, 2 collabs came together for myself with SC 350. I think you're going to start seeing more hybrid versions of the " Elton John - Bernie Taupin" connection that will start to happen. I play guitar, but often when I sit down to play, it's to practice stuff I play with my band. Or to try and come up with new material for my band. It's very rare that I get much time otherwise to sit and record solo stuff. Not to mention all my equipment is in the basement, which isolates me from the family and honestly needs some serious upgrading. Hence I do more BT stuff in FruityLoop cause it's right on my laptop and it's a way besides writing words to pursue other creative moments. I'm also a big fan of just improv jamming, so when I get any extra time, I try to jam with some buddies of mine. Not much of that stuff makes it to this board (aside from being linked in my signature) cause... it's just really weirdo stuff I guess, LOL. I like the lyrics section here cause it's a way for me to exercise one of my creative outlets. And since it's gone a step further in some cases, being added to music, it's even more rewarding. Anyway, there are probably quite a few gifted musicians here at 101 that can write music like no others, but struggle with words and melody lines. We just have to get both folks together now.
You know what? If someone wants to put down a rough melody line for some of their words in a recording... I'd be more than happy to at least try to get a BT started to present to one of the many gifted guitarists here for finishing off. I'm also probably due to get another "Don't Drop the Ball" going too.

I'd do some collabs with anyone. I don't think my lyrics would be that good for any musicans. But hey, if anyone would want to put together some kind of a collab I'd be all for it. Only if I don't have to sing.:drunk:
