I usually work up a loose song structure and then work the lyrics from there, then fine tune from there, while some get a loose idea for lyrics then fit the music to the lyrics, so it is what works best for you I guess...

What kind of tips are you after... where to get hooks, how to format, how to go beyond the first verse and chorus....?

Hooks anywhere and everywhere, conversations, the TV, radio , newspapers, magazines...

How to format... make it easy to follow and break it into verses, bridge and chorus sections... If you are not doing your own music try to keep the meter in the verses the same as well as keeping a consistant rime scheme.

How to get beyond the first verse and chorus... welll when I know an easy way.. I'll let you know
