Sounds of Summertime - Zach Bernard

Sounds of Summertime
(Bernard)

Weather’s getting warmer
Grass is getting greener
Days are getting longer
People always joining together

Schools are letting out
Nothing to worry ‘bout
Gonna hit those sandy beaches
Everything within all our reaches

(Background ooh-ing)

We’re gonna meet tonight
If you feel the time is right
Maybe we can see some city lights
Or sail away on the shores tonight

You hear the birds singing and the kids screaming
Feel the hot weather and sweat forever
(Ah) It never really gets any better than this
It sounds a lot like summertime to me

Baseball games come around again
The warm weather starts to begin
No worries on young adolescent minds
People start to notice the signs

(Background ooh-ing)

Livin’ it up with my hair in the breeze
Lying in the sun with leisure and ease
The beautiful girls are like an infectious disease
Tends to bring me down to my knees

You hear the birds singing and the kids screaming
Feel the hot weather and sweat forever
(Ah) It never really gets any better than this
It sounds a lot like summertime to me

(Guitar Solo)

(Background ooh-ing)

We’re gonna meet tonight
If you feel the time is right
Reaching out for whatever’s in sight
Don’t care how late I’m out tonight

You hear the birds singing and the kids screaming
Feel the hot weather and sweat forever
(Ah) It never really gets any better than this
It sounds a lot like summertime to me

You hear the birds singing and the kids screaming
(It’s the sounds, the sounds of summertime)
Feel the hot weather and sweat forever
(The sounds, the sounds, the sounds of summertime)
It never really gets any better than this
(*High Pitched Scream*)
It sounds a lot like summertime to me

It’s the summertime
Gonna make it mine all mine

(Jamming, then fade-out)

Instrumental and lyrical flow is of Van Halen's "Cabo Wabo" and "Spanked" and i see a little "Amsterdam / Summer Nights" thing going on for the guitar solo. The title may seem familiar to VH boot collectors, because inspiration comes from walking to school last monday listening to 6/19 on my iPod (Daves 'Sounds of Summertime' speech), and feeling the beautiful yet unseasonable 60 degree wind running through me reminded me of May or June, late spring or early summer (my favorite time of year) and i just came up with this. This is basically just an ode to the feeling of my favorite time of the year: Summer. And after the 2005 nightmare, this is kind of hoping i see a better one in 2006.

Im normally one who hates the music he writes, while it gets respect from other people, yet I love this song. This is easily IMO the best thing i have ever written. There's so much I can do by using those four songs in the flow. Not often you see a summer song written in January, but when it unseasonably hits 60 degrees, ya kinda get some ideas. I hope you like this one, because this is easily the best thing that has ever come outta my head. Song 5 of around 17, and song 1 of the next 5 that Im hoping will be due over the next two weeks!

Gimmie some feedback folks!!!

All in all the lyrics are very nice. It seems to me like you need to discard a word
here or there. Try to keep your lyrics short and to the point. Saying as much as you can with as few words as possible. Thats why song writing is so much more difficult than composing a short story. A strong hook line that you can return to is the key . The songs that become hits are those with few words and that are easy to remember. That way people can sing em in the shower or hum them at work. I fight with the same things that I've pointed out to you. Dont get me wrong...your lyrics are every bit as good as mine if not better. Just keep in mind the tips I mentioned. PS Sometimes lyrics that are a bit on the abstract side are good because they allow a person to paint their own personal picture of the words you've layed out for them. Also try to stay away from too much I's and me's. Like I said at the beginning.Good lyrics none the less

this one make me start to dread the rest of winter... good stuff...
I am not sure about structure for a song...but what do I know it is all in how it is presented...slap together a rough recording and post it...
ya never know............
