Time
(Zach Bernard)
(Keyboard / Drum Jam Intro)
(Guitar, Bass, and Drums break down into a very powerful, thumping melody)
Time is everything
It’s the essence of your life
(Keyboards kick in under previous melody)
Take a look at yourself
Letting the darkness close in all around you
Thinking about how life has failed you
Flashing back to the things you’ve always wanted to do
But you know
There’s still time
Take a look at your relationship
Seems like things went down the drain
Can’t seem to work a thing out with your partner
No drug can wash away your pain
But you know
There’s still time
Almost as if you’ve given up
Pulled the plug, ended your run
Can’t see any promise in your future
Blinded by the sun
But right now is your moment
Time to reach for the stars
Reach for that golden ring
No matter if it appears too far
You’ll always have time
Never let it slip away
Gotta live your life for today
(Keyboard / Drum Jam)
(
Guitar Solo)
Just when you thought your life is down the drain
Ready to pull the trigger on yourself
In your mind there isn’t much to lose
Simply place your money on the shelf
But right now is your moment
Time to reach for the stars
Reach for that golden ring
Don’t let anything tear you apart
But you know
There’s still time
But you know
There’s still time
You’ve got time!
Always got time!
Never let it slip away
Gotta live your life for today
Now you know
There’s always time
(Jamming, then fade out)
Lyrical flow goes to Genesis’ “Calling All Stations”, a very underappreciated gem from the band, as well as Van Halen’s “Right Now”. Musical flow I would say is very “Calling All Stations(song)” meets “Abacab(album)”, behind some pulsating Metallica-ish guitar/bass/drum melodies. The guitar solo is GREATLY inspired by Van Halen, specifically “Right Now” due to the song’s change of pattern, mixing with various Van Halen-esque riffs, as well as Ozzy Osbourne’s “No More Tears” solo and Extreme’s “Am I Ever Gonna Change?” solo.
This song is very diverse, and is inspired by many different styles of rock. I would say if you want to compare it with anything, go Genesis meets Van Halen meets Metallica. Inspired by my aspect of the importance of time in a person’s life. Very deep tune. Probably the deepest I have ever written. Main inspiration goes out to Genesis’ “Calling All Stations” and Van Halen’s “Right Now”. I also want to say this is the most oddly structured and longest written piece of mine. However, playing it outloud with a buddy of mine, it makes a LOT of sense
Working on two more as of right now. A party anthem (inspired by my recent interest in
David Lee Roth’s solo career) and a song about troubles with love, called “That Bitch” (Best description of that would be Motley Crue’s “Hammered” meets The Rolling Stone’s “Bitch”, hence the title inspiration)
Hope you all like this one. Really went deep inside of me to find these lyrics.
