Have a Marshall 8100 valvestate that's been sitting a little while..When I was connecting it up today with a Lexicon MPX G2, I noticed that there are different frequencies coming through (almost like turning the dial on an AM radio). It doesn't seem to do this with the guitar plugged straight...
Hi all, I'm in the market for a new guitar.
I've been playing for around 20+ years. I've played in a few bands and recorded several albums, and am very hands-on with tone, etc. I have a very good amp/effects setup that took a long time to piece together, with some custom components, that gets...

These may sound like dumb questions with obvious answers, but this is...
I've always like heavy burning tones. I customised a Gordon Smith Graf (english softwood wierd body) with a DiMazio 70's double humbucker pickup on the bridge with 2 phase control switches (not available any more).
Instead of going for power i went for poo. Choosing the weakest signal on...
Most people place Push/Pull pots in the Tone position. I always thought that the volume position would be optimal because it is (on most guitars) generally closer to your hand, making it faster and easier to manipulate.
What do you guys think about Push/Pull pot placement?
I just started this website to offer some beginning advice on dialing in a brutal death metal guitar sound. It's still being refined and updated, but check it out and see what you think.

You can try a dozen guitars at your local music store and be able to identify exactly what it is that you like about their individual sound.
You can see any part of the tonal spectrum, from extreme definition that will make your fingers bleed, to extreme sustain that will keep you from picking...
