I was thinking to install new pickups in my Epiphone Les Paul Standard. I play mostly old rock/hard rock so I was thinking to install Gibson '57 Classsic or Seymour Duncan Alnico II pro pickups. Has anyone tried to do something like that or has a better suggestion? I would be very grateful to any help.

If you like an vintage rock sound a la Slash, go for the Alnico2 humbuckers.

If you want to go more heavy, then get a JB (Alnico5).
Check out the Duncan site and there is a elaborate forum to with a lot of information about all kinds of pickups.

I don't know about the Gibson though.
