ORIGINAL UPLOADER'S NOTES:

Happy Birthday to the late and great BB King! Born in 1925, King would have turned 91 years old today. R.I.P

Today we have 3 great legends. I had previously posted the partial Bobby Bland set over on dime, the day after he passed away on June 22, 2013.

I don't know if this Albert King was ever posted and I'm pretty sure that the B.B. King set has never been posted anywhere until now.

Bobby's set is the last 19 minutes, Albert's set looks complete and BB's is just the first 42 minutes of the show.

There is a full audience recording for BB King that I'm aware of, because I have it.

I know who was rolling tape in the audience. Once he sees this maybe he'll want to share the audience recordings as well.

S.R.V.'s set was not included with my discs. It has already been widely circulated from other sources.

Here is everything else I have to offer. In great sound quality. This is an awesome 3 in 1 package.

These disc's were most likely transferred from the master tapes, I just don't know for sure.

I know some of you have been waiting a long time to finally hear this. It's been worth the wait.

B.B. KING 1986-04-03 ROANOKE, VA ROANOKE CIVIC CENTER

LINEAGE: THIS IS A 1ST GEN CASSETTE FROM THE MASTER. I GOT THIS FROM A GUY WHO SAID HE WORKED FOR THE BAND. I HAD PREVIOUSLY CONTACTED BB_KING_ARCHIVEST ABOUT THIS RECORDING. I SENT HIM THE CASSETTE TO COMPARE TO OTHER KNOWN SOURCES. HE STATED THIS WAS FAR SUPERIOR TO WHAT HE HAD. HE TRANSFERED THE CASSETTE TO WAV RECORDING: I DONT KNOW WHAT WAS USED TO RECORD IT PLAY BACK: RCA SCT-500 tAPE DECK TO A JVC XL-R2010 STANDALONE BURNER THIS IS A PRISTINE RECORDING OF A GREAT PERFORMANCE. IN THE OLD DAYS WHEN TRADING CASSETTES, YOU GOT LUCKY ONCE IN A WHILE AND GET A GREAT RECORDING FROM THE MASTER OR LOW GEN COPY... THIS WAS ONE OF THOSE TIMES. THANKS AGAIN TO THE TAPER AND BB_KING_ARCHIVEST FOR HIS HELP AND FOR THE TRANSFER. ENJOY

New Audience Recording: Source #2

Source: unknown mics > Sony WM-D3c > (2) C-90 masters > (2) C-60 1st generation copy

Transfer: Ion tape deck (usb) > Nero (Wav 44.1)

Editing: Soundforge (tracking) > WAV > TLH [SBE aligned] Flac level 8

......................................................................

This newest source is the best quality and complete, now available for the first time in flac.

This was a real nice surprise finding this recording. You BB fans should be really happy about this.

I'm labeling this as Source 2, because there was another partial 38 min audience recording that surfaced on dime in 2015.

There is also a partial 80 min soundboard, which is missing most of "Why I Sing The Blues" and "Rock Me Baby".

The soundboard tape suffers from some noticeable tape pitch flutter, which makes it difficult to listen to. It was also released in 2015.

Being able to finally hear a good, steady recording of this after all these years was a nice surprise.

The taper (in2blues) wasn't able to find his master copy, instead had a 1st gen back-up copy handy, so that's what I have here.

This show has James Cotton joining in for as long 15 minute version of "Rock Me Baby".

Recording notes.

There is a tape flip after track 7 (real time 40:37). I couldn't find the next tape flip.

I've also added in several photos from this concert and I also included a scan of the ticket stub.

Guessed on the songs. BB had

problems with his voice this night.

He sounds hoarse on this recording.

This is a large open-air theater at the top of Mount Lycabettus in Athens.

I've had this for a while and was trying to figure out an exact date. This was

This is most of the concert, missing the opening blues band instrumentals and maybe 1 song with the closing outro.

Track 09 'Caldonia' fades in.

Track 15 'When Love Comes To Town' fades out.

Besides the fact that this is in mono, the sound quality is clean and spectacular.

I really enjoyed how good this sounds, you will too.

There are no band introductions, but for this time period the members would be something like this.

Guitar: Leon Warren

Bass: Michael Doster

Drums: Calep Emphrey Jr.

Keyboards: James Toney

Sax: Walter King

Baritone Sax: Edgar Synigal

I don't think I've seen this around yet. This might be new for many of you.

I received this 1st gen in a tape trade about 15 years ago.

I was compelled to revisit this recording, based on someone here had sent me another cassette of this.

I discovered how good my copy was and thought it was time to finally share this one.

This was the first of a 6 night run for BB at the Blue Note.

It was very common for BB to play 2 shows per night.

This could either be the early or late show, I'm not sure.

Also on this first night, BB was introduced by Isaac Hayes, though not present on this tape.

This is the full broadcast. We get the biggest chunk of the show here.

Though it's obviously missing the blues band instrumental opening tracks and another 20 minutes or so from the middle of the show.

Being a 1st gen copy, this is Really Clean sounding and very well mixed.

Recording Notes:

The tape flip was during track 11 'Rock Me Baby' @ 3:00, very quick flip.

Enjoy the show folks.

===========================================================================

This reworked version contains the final 10 minutes that were missing from sunvenusmoon original torrent on Dime.

I obtained the additional material and have done further editing to this recording.

The right channel was amplified 3 db. Both channels are now the same volume.

The highest clipped peaks were reduced by 2 db. Just to bring them down from the ceiling.

The entire recording was re-tracked.

The cd split (dead space) was removed and pieced back together seamlessly.

I also fixed the volume drop, right after the initial band's start of track 01.

Sunvenusmoon had turned down the mics too far and then gradually increased the volume back up over a 20 second period.

I made adjustments to gradually raise and smooth out the volume in that very beginning section.

I also isolated and lowered the volume of hand claps over certain areas of music.

Thank You to Sunvenusmoon for recording and sharing.
