Between late ’88 and the summer of ’92, somewhere near Stuttgart, West Germany, a young die-hard music fan was on a mission – hunting down live tapes like rare gems.
Many of the gigs he caught on his own recorder, a Sony WM-D3 – The Master Tapes – and even more tapes came in through trades with music friends from all over the world – The Swapped Tape Archive.
Then… silence. For over three decades, the tapes vanished into a dusty box, hidden away from the world.
Summer 2025 – the long-lost box of 300+ cassettes turns up. The hiss of analog comes alive again. Digitizing begins. And now, for the first time, the archive opens to the public.

NOTES:

• The legendary 'Open The Fenster' show at Jugendhaus Anna in Stuttgart. That day was unbelievably hot, and the packed JuZe quickly became unbearable. The whole 'Open The Fenster' theme ran through the entire gig. ‘Fenster’ is the German word for Windows by the way. You can clearly hear it on track 10, the 'Open The Fenster' moment. By the end, the windows were wide open, and people who couldn’t get in anymore just climbed through them to join the show inside. Unfortunately, compared to other shows on the tour, the gig was very short due to the heat.
• The taper accidentally stopped the recording during the first track, 'No Control,' so unfortunately the second track, 'Land of Competition,' was not captured either.
