From the book, Tune In: The Beatles All These Years by Mark Lewisohn:

Ted "King-Size" Taylor happened to have bought a reel-to-reel deck, and Adrian Barber positioned it on a table, plugged in a microphone and set it running over several nights at slow speed (33/4 ips). Other groups were recorded too, but the Beatles dominate.... At thirty-seven songs and one hundred minutes (with perhaps a little more still unknown), this is the only substantial live recording of the "early Beatles" known to exist, and certainly the only one in the public domain. Through Taylor's and Barbers;s efforts, there is this historic and highly welcome tape of the Beatles in performance at the precise moment their first phase was ending, a nick-of-time capture of the Beatles as a rock and rolling club band.
Ted "King Size" Taylor was leader of the band King Size Taylor and the Dominoes.
Adrian Barber was the lead guitarist of Cass and the Cassanovas.
Recordings were made between December 18 to 31st.
