There's a good debate on it over at www.recording.org

looks like there are a bunch of winnie ego babies over there!! I hate it when a guy gives props to low end equipment and gets dumped on by guys who think the more money you spend the better you sound.

I too am looking at trying out this amp head. just can't find one yet. I called everybody and no body had one in stock. not sure if that's good or bad. I want to hear it before I buy it.

same here... I had to reply to that crap :D I recently joined that forum on a linux discussion so I stuck with it...

Anyways... I recently bought the v-amp pro, I would assume that is just the same except it has a poweramp. I really like the v-amp. But I suggest you find a place to try it out. I only bought the v-amp without trying it out because the price was low enough I copuld justify taking a chance with it :)

so does it give out some good sounds? the cover band I'm in, we play everything from Stevie Wonder/Rick Springfeild to Motley Crue/Scorpions. I have a Crate GFX1200H running thru a Crate Blue Voodoo 4x12 cab. I love the OD & Distortion of the head. but sometimes I get asked to tweak me sound for a certain song. which once I find a sound I like I don't like messing with the knobs anymore. I also have a Digitech Genesis and a Korg Toneworks AX100G. But can't seem to get the sounds I need from them either. I can a little bit from the Genesis but it is a "table top" deal with no foot switch. I guess I could have it at hand level on stage and adjust my sounds by hand but who wants to do that.

Well I asked you guys because apparently I'll be getting one of these because a friend of mine is looking to get rid of it. Wants to trade me for my J-Station and some pedals I don't even use. I'm gonna pick it up tonight, but won't have time to really mess with it till the weekend. I played it last night over his house, and I was impressed, but I got some major tweaking to do . I haven't even read the manual yet. The rectifier amp sounded pretty cool though.

I already have a V-Amp pro which I run with my 5150 II, so I guess I'll just have this around to fuck with. Can't wait to really explore with it, and for the price it does seem like you get alot for your buck.

Will do. I've never played a Mesa, so I wouldn't know how authentic the V-ampire gets to nailing the sound. I do LOVE the rectifier setting on my V-amp, so I don't see why the Vampire wouldn't impress me as well. The recto setting with a dash of reverb and delay and I'm rockin! :thumb:

Nah I don't use that thing anymore, especially after getting the V-amp Pro.

I bought the LX-1200 and matching 412 cab and really like it. You can read my review at Harmony Central. Short summary - no brainer for v-amp guys who want to use v-amp sounds live. I didn't own a V-amp previously but compared it side by side with a $400 Line 6 head. Sound and features made the Vampire an easy choice. I use this rig live every weekend and haven't been disappointed, yet.

i have the combo version with the 12 in speaker and it kicks ass. absolutely love it. the xlr outs to the board are handy (no directbox) and the sound in the p.a. is fantastic. another thing i like is that the line out volume is fixed so if you turn up the master volume the amp gets louder but the volume in the p.a. stays the same. the only drawback is that when it is used as a combo you don't get the 120 watts but when i plugged my buddys 4-12 peavey bottom in it was really loud and a lot of ballsy low end. i started out with a v-amp2 run into a marshall combo and the v-ampire combo works and sounds better. sorry marshall!
