But Ozzy is a difficult voice in the first place...not a particularly brilliant one, but difficult. I wouldn't say hiding it in reverb but it doesn't sound right dry. Singing it an octave lower will make it sound un Oz.

It'll sound heavy as hell tuned to D mate. Try it...the thing I did with J-Mart, my guitar was tuned to D.

As for voice, I'm told honey and lemon but that'll only sooth a bad throat.
