Hughes & Kettner

You should check out a the new Hughes & Kettner Warp Factor Distortion pedal abd the classic Marshall Jackhammer distortion pedal! A little birdy told me that these are both really good ULTRA high distortion pedal that still give you a great amount of tonal control throughout! E-Bay has both for pretty cheap (around $50 give or take 20 or so depending on the auction)I'm sure that you can find a sounds sample somewhere on the net! Cheers! Hope you enjoy!

I have owned or used most common distortion pedals out there. Boss is always good IMO. As far as MXR, I think the Doubleshot is a lot better than the dime.

One that I have not tried (that I want) is the Radial Hot British tone bone which has a real tube stage in it......but it's $230US....and you can never find one used.

yeah the Metal Zone sucks. Boss is killer, though--- FOR ME TO POOP ON!!!
Seriously though, The DD-11 is pretty good, and the Digitech Metal Master is good too. The Warp Factor is killer, but you can't really substitute tube amp distortion...

Check out the Line 6 Tone Core Uber Metal pedal. Cool tones.
Yes I agree with ya here. I just bought this pedal this past weekend,, and it totally rocks!! it has alot going on for it,, and bl0ws away all the metal pedals out there by far,, including the boss metal zone. I had the boss metal zone,, i had dod,, etc,, and this one is really worth lookin into. Im not a huge fan of just stompbox pedals,,, allthough i have had quite of few of em in my day,, and for most part i got rid of them due to fact that they really didnt grab me. as of now,, i do seriously love the uber metal,, and of cousre,, my trusty ibanez tube screamer. I'll never get rid of these 2. i even had the boss mega distortion pedal recently,, and it just lacked what the uber metal will give you, go to www.line6.com and clike on tone core pedals on that screen.

No, I was joking earlier. The Metal Zone does suck, unless you want the Metal Zone tone. It's kinda like the Big Muff, you either love it or hate it.

An all around good distortition pedal is the Boss OS-2. It's a Overdrive/Distortition pedal. So if you're looking for a bluesy tone and a death metal tone, you can pretty much get it.

Good look on finding your tone, I'm still looking for mine :jam:

I really understand your confusion. I have owned LOTS of pedals but sold them all becasue I now have a Line 6 Vetta.

You can listen to sound clips on MF all day, but they will tell you very little. The only way it to go to GC or some store that has them all set up so you can try one after the other in the store...which I have done for hours on end. Even then it will only give you an idea untill you get it home. You can always buy 2 or 3 of your favorites and just return the ones you don't want for a full refund.

If that is not possible....then you need to watch E-bay and buy them one at a time. If you don't like them....relist and sell. You should never lose money if you get a good deal.

I had a Boss Metal Zone...It's great for metal but not much else....you either love em or hate em. It's a very scooped metal sound with loads of gain......I liked mine hooked to a 5150II's clean channel.....but it was about like the lead channel of that amp alone without much versality....so I sold it. I used to use it with a Marshall....it was great becasue most Marshall amps don't have metal type gain....unless you mod them or use a pedal of some type...except the Silver Jubilee/Slash head.

I had a Boss Overdrive /distortion....great pedal but will not really metal things out like the MT-2.

Big muff's and IB tube screamers are good....but lower gain. It just depends on what you want....and what amp you are using them with.

The MXR Dime was a big dissapointment....I figured it would make any amp sound like Pantera.....nope. The MXR Doubleshot actually sounded much hotter....hard to believe.

I don't have that Line 6 Uber pedal becasue I already have the Line 6 Vetta head with all that stuff built in......I'll bet it screams.....and I KNOW it will be very versatile.

E-bay is your best place to look.

yer if i played metal 24/7 id get the metal zone but i like to play a bit of blues and joe sat and kirk some dime some hendrix so its hard to get a dist pedal to suite all them things. but when i play metal i need full on make your ears bleed metal and for the rest a nice rock or mild tone distortion that i can combine with other effects for the solos. but i guess just over time ill find some where, some thing the metal im looking for. ill look into line 6s stuff its seems interesting but yeah anyway thanx for yours advice it may help me a bit for finding my tone. :notme:
