i have one and think its a great drum machine i also own a older dr5 which is a different animal. the dr3 has a auto fill feature which gives a more real drummer feel i mainly use presets and mute the bass for recording, or feed it the midi from a backing track . it has some decent 12 bar blues patterns which i like.for $200 new its a good deal. check out harmony central.com
