Source Notes
A word in your ear from Hobs:
This volume showcases a new reconstruction of the famous 1965 Shea Stadium concert.
Okay... so what makes this different to the other 3000 Shea dvds out there? First of all the video quality: the source material is derived from the new transfer of the 1979 BBC repeat which was previously featured on First Play At Shea. Colour is stronger and more natural than previous versions. The thirty minute concert has been re-edited into the original performance order, with the two missing songs and all the extra in-between song chat re-instated. The extra audio has been wedded to audience shots and other material taken from the earlier part of the original tv special, plus footage from other sources. The audio is of course the original live audio, not the overdubbed audio which was actually recorded in 1966.
Additionally, the poor visual continuity of the original film has been fixed. In the tv special there are frequent cutaway shots showing Ringo playing the wrong cymbal, George playing the wrong guitar, John playing chords when he's supposed to be doing something else, empty mikes when voices can be heard, etcetera. No material has actually been cut; instead many of the cutaway shots have been re-arranged into a more sensible order so that they don't jar visually. For example, a long shot showing John playing Dizzy Miss Lizzy was original cut into the song I Feel Fine... now it is where it should be. Shots of John playing the intro to She's a Woman have been restored to that song. Out of synch shots have been nudged back into place and the title sequences re-edited to provide a more traditional start and finish to the concert.

Hey Mac Concertfan!

These are connected zip files (don't know the exact techie name). you have 5 files marked z1 thru z5, and the last file is the "master" zip file (your 6th download). You need to have them all together (like in a folder), then you need to have Stuffit Expander ("It's free!!", as Hobs is fond of saying). Drag the master Zip file (it's the one that appears with an actual Zip file icon) onto the Stuffit Ex icon, and it will open all the files and join them together. Bingo!

I believe this will work for Windows people, too, altho there's probably a some kind of unzipper in case they don't like Raymond Lau's great primordial Mac (now cross platform) utility.

Now, My problem..

I downloaded all the files for a total of 2,325MB. I unstuffed them, they formed a file with a video TS folder, artwork from (apparently) some "original" dvd with from the Cathode Ray series, and an extras photos folder. The TS folder has ALL nine files listed in the MD5, BUT IS ONLY 829.2MB's!!!! The entire folder for everything is only 836.7!!!! What happened to the other 1500MB's in the download!!!!!!!!! You can't say Stuffit didn't unstuff everything because all the VOB, VUP, IFO, etc files in the MD5 are there, and all the little ancillary files (the extras, the artwork, the MD5) are there.
When I try to burn it, Toast says the Video TS folder "appears to be damaged". It would seem to require the full 2300MB to burn a 1 hour(?) dvd from a TS in the high quality of this sort.

WEird!! Anyone have any clues? Thanks!!

Although one file seemed corrupt when I unzipped, I was able to make out what this one is all about. Know that SHE'S A WOMAN and EVERYBODY's TRYING TO BE MY BABY is only audio with other background video. These two songs were not put into the airing. It looks to be the same one from Cathode Ray and must be since the artwork is from Cathode Ray collection. The whole documentary with other acts is a MUST also from I believe Darth Disc. Just know there is NOT live video from Shea of the two songs I mentioned. Nice to have the audio though.

I remember seeing the live broadcast of it.

4 little guys on a little stage at second base.....hysterical screaming and crying teenage girls would jump the fence onto the field and run towards the stage.....with NYC cops hitting them full tilt like NFL defensive backs sacking someone.....

Not only that, in 1965 my family could only afford a black and white TV, so I never even say any of the footage in color until I saw some documentaries on the Beatles back in the 90s...

Thanks for posting.

Although I only looked at the first two or three songs I can confirm that She's a Woman is actually from the 1965 NME Poll Winners Concert, which explains why it's in black & white.
The video quality of the Shea footage is about as good as I've ever seen. I actually have a more complete Shea video but it's got the 1966 dubbed audio and the ridiculous cut-away shots :(
