I wish I had better luck with the effects loop on my Crate 120w stack. I tried running my pedals, chorus, delay, & noise gate through it and oh my god the hum was worse than it is just going between my guitar and amp! What could I be doing wrong? The instruction book for my crate told me which way to hook it up but it sounded terrible.

Riff, if you aren't using your effects with batteries, try that. Sometimes a poorly filtered wall wart will cause nasty hum. If that doesn't help, try one effect at a time to see if one is causing the noise. also try different patch cables.

Yip, Riff, try with batteries. Many times the adapters are poorly filtered. This can cause a very nasty hum in your signal. If your effects have no hum with batteries, you then know that your problem exists due to the power adapter(s).
