rezamozaffarinia suggested Voodoo Chile' from Hendrix and I thought it would be fun. I haven't picked up my guitar in three months until this afternoon, so there are a couple of rusty spots. Still a lot of fun, and I am looking forward to rezamozaffarinia's version. :thumb:

hey everyone this is my take on voodoo chile, actually more of a framed improvisation ,i didnt get the track going until towards the end but at about 3:35 i started to get some good SRV/DICK DALE tone,and i just tried to let go ,,,
sorry for the quality ,i record with a tiny mic.one main guitar from beginig to the end and a 3 second fill,my setup is strat--->booster---->wah--->twin

Not to take anything away from your version Rez, you followed the vocal line really well, sounded like the original.....but man EJ....your playing and tone was SICK! I mean INSANE! ANd that recording was over the top!

Its not easy

Its not easy to decide becuase you both did it with different tones and in different styles in some ways. Even though Rez was recording with a mic I think his playing was great and though recording is part of the battle becuase a good recording is part of a good song, he still did the style really well and I liked it, maybe a little more. EJ, thats soulful playing and I would have done something like that too. Nice, both of you.:icon_peac :icon_thum

People around here are getting pretty jaded....those are 2 extreme guitar tracks and deserve a few listens each IMO!

Rez...liked your version but unless my ears are f.u.c.t. up, you're playing in say Eb and your backing track is in E??? There's something wrong as the bass sounds a semi-tone higher?

EJ, liked the attack and tone...thought you hit the tonezone as much as rez but that flat/sharp thing really spoilt it for me. I voted Jalepeno. :thumb:

thanx a lot guys for the comments,naif , very kind , i feel that way about your takes usually....i'm glad you liked it, i always try to do it unpolished & raw ,or just as you said dirty :smirk:

wah wah ,,, my backing track was "supposed to be in Eb" i do NOT have any backings in E since i 've been tuning to Eb for a long time now.........a friend tuned this backing down for me with some software , he did a whole bunch for me , i use some of them on the daily basis but, i used this backing for the 2nd time maybe when i recorded this track , so until i heard myself back i didnt realize and at that time my take was already posted ...(look at the challenge section)i spent only 20 minutes recording :doh: ,but i saw that the backing is not in the way so i just let it be there!

ANYWAY FIXED IT AND IT SOUNDS MUCH BETTER NOW! :icon_peac

So you deliberatly spent 20 minutes and submitted, then redid it and posted after the battle started? Help me understand if I am incorrect. :wtf:

redid???????????????????, i didnt redo anything i just put the correct backing on my take (which already included the backing)there is NOTHING changed except that the new backing is now in Eb .

and about deliberately spending little time ,,,, jeez i cant do more than 20 minutes after working 11 hours, i also dont like to do so many takes and editting i like the raw sound better , you see it was good enough ...
