I can't decide if I have a File Factory issue, or an ISP issue. The last show I tried to download a week ago was almost 2GB, it took almost 18 hours, and then stalled. Ever since, I cannot download anything. The website loads briefly, asks me to accept cookies, and then the page freezes. If I refresh, I get a failure notice that I cannot connect to the server. This is on multiple computers and even over wifi. If I try to access FileFactory through a cellular connection, then I get through to FileFactory. I'm not using a VPN, but that may be my next step. But it's odd, I haven't had connection issues in the past, and I've downloaded far more shows than I am now.

FF is having MAJOR issues, eh? I paid my money a few years ago and have enjoyed unlimited from them; I more than got my money's worth. All the same, it seems that whatever super duper upgrade, reformatted website, with completely retooled,...well,...whatever TF they did...they can't stay up. Crash after crash. My guess is that they've shot themselves in the foot for the time being. Meanwhile, many are scrambling to whatever the next best is. Be it We, Mega, Swiss, even Google. They all have, by today's standards, severely limited storage for those such as myself that prefer to upload stuff and leave it there indefinitely, unless of course you subscribe and pay. For myself, Google is the easiest. But again, it costs for a large (2Tb) yet still finite storage.

My hope is that FF figures it out and pulls ahead. I have low confidence that FF will prevail, though.

Following up on an earlier comment -
Still not able to upload larger ZIPs of over 2GB in size unfortunately, but, as a trial, a small single mp3 file did upload succesfully yesterday.
I still don't feel comfortable using them for now, so I've paused most of my FF uploading efforts as they're my only site for major file storage to use here at Guitars.

File Factory suited me just right-so far haven't found the same thing.
*Got a reasonable deal on a lifetime plan(I think it was $250)
*Unlimited storage-the only limit was the 5GB upload and I wonder if that's changing
* I could search for what other people had uploaded(if they didnt hide it).
*My favorite part-I could share my files with other member without them asking for a link. I liked being able to share my live music files easily.
*Being where they were I really didnt have to worry about DMCA stuff-at least in my mind.

As of today, FF is still broken . . . . . here was was today message when I tried a single download. I am a premium, lifetime FF subscriber, which doesn't seem like such a good deal these days . . .I've sent multiple messages to their support and it's a proverbial black hole . . . . let's hope they "new and improved" FF beta can be further improved . . . .

For users like Goody I feel your pain man ... moving so much data elsewhere is a huge pain in the ass. And all you other premium users, if any of you are planning on not using FF ever again, I would go to my financial institution (however you paid for your membership) and explain to them what is going on and make them fight to get your money back. And any free users got nothing to bitch about.

I am gonna look into these other site ppl are finding ... Jottacloud, Telegram and Terabox. I am pretty happy with my 2 free Mega accounts with 50GB each

You guys are beating a dead horse. There have always been better hosts than Filefactory.

It's just that people have several TB of music uploaded there and don't want to start all over again and fix thousands of posts. That's a valid reason.

It's fine but links only last one month, and are capped at 250 downloads, so no, it's not better or even the same.

To get back on track:

I found no free (or very cheap in the way FF was) file sharing service that allows you to store files indefinitely, has a decent end user experience for the download (no intrusive ads, no indecent waiting time), no caps on downloads, search engine etc...

What Mega offers (for a price):

  • permanent storage (as long as you pay obviously)
  • easy upload (either web interface or their tool)
  • no need to zip files
  • no ads
  • no waiting time, but I think there's a cooldown after a while

What they don't offer:

  • no rewards program (to extend your account)
  • no search engine
  • not free

there is 5gb download limit with mega, but that depends if the account holder has paid for additional bandwidth.

at the moment I am a premium FF member who is unable to download, my account is due to renew but keeps getting extended, unless they get this fixed I am not going to renew after 10 yrs of being a premium member.

My observation is the filefactory naysayers, I don’t recognize their names. And when they try to make their points, their observations are inaccurate. Swisstransfer links die within hours of being posted. How is that better ?

FileFactory was great for a long time. That’s why everyone here used it. I’m getting tired of saying this, but what was great about it was the search function and the unlimited daily downloads. No one else had those features. And the long term storage. You were able to pull file like 10-15 years old. The naysayers don’t understand any of that for some reason, and I’m done trying to help them understand this. The problems now are obvious. All the dead links have been problematic for a while unfortunately, but I’ve had a great run with them. Hopefully they can come back strong.

Also I've noticed Mega and Mediafire sometimes erroneously tag some files as "copyright infrigement", that's why I had to delete that huge GN'R folder and reupload it on FF.

FF never does that, although they're very shady regarding copyrights which is pretty bad in itself.

As for Swisstranfer I think it says the links are good for for 30 days, but if more than 250 people download the file, the link expires. So any download that's popular is guaranteed to die in a few hours unfortunately (happened to one of my Genesis megaleak links, for obvious reasons).

I was finally able to get onto FileFactory, but unfortunately the website does not have funtionality. I was frustrated with the 5minute wait on downloads, when I event downloaded anything in 2 weeks. so I decided to sign up for premium. My password does not work. Reset the password, still does not work. Finally sign in with Google. Try to buy a 30 day trial...ooj wait, they're offering me two months. Click the link, blank page. Go back to the 30 day trial...PayPal payment links to a blank page. Ok, I'll do my credit card. That doesn't work either, I keep getting kicked back to the main page. So frustrating. Maybe I need to wait another couple weeks until they get the bugs worked out.

Yes I think waiting another couple of weeks is the ONLY option we have.

I have a LIFETIME premium membership and am trying to wait patiently for them to resolve their obvious issues.
If I were you I would NOT try to send them ANY money until those aforementioned issues are RESOLVED!!

Try your best to wait patiently.

I am hopeful their "New and Improved" service happens SOON or everyone here and all over the sharing and collecting community will indeed move on and try something new.

As a Lifetime member I am hoping, hoping, truly hoping that my already PAID permanent account will have some value again in the future.
I have had NO COMPLAINTS of the service until, obviously, their current problems.

THANK YOU ALL for sharing and maintaining this common interest group......one way or another.
