In May and June of 1975 Sinatra went on a European tour, stopping in England, France, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, and West Germany. Here we've got him in Frankfurt, West Germany, at the Festhalle--an arena that dates back to before World War I.

I'd describe this sound as on the low end of quality, but it's definitely listenable.

We stay in Europe for today's post but go back to 1962--still on Sinatra's World Tour from that year from which we heard last month when he was in the Far East. Here in Milan, Italy at the Palazzo Del Ghiaccio, which got its start in the 1920s as one of the largest covered ice skating rinks in the world.

Terrific sound with this one.

After being in Europe for "The Ultimate Event" tour in April and early May 1989, on May 19 of that year Sinatra was playing Bally's Grand in Las Vegas by himself. Here we have his second show from the night of May 27, 1989. Frank Sinatra, Jr., who had begun conducting for his father in 1988, is at the podium. Nice sound for an audience recording.

We stay in Vegas with today's post, with this one being from the tail end of Sinatra's career. His last appearance on stage in Las Vegas was May 27-29, 1994, at the MGM Grand. Here's the show from the middle of those three dates, 28 years ago.

While his voice sounds good considering his age, there are more than a few instances where he gets lost in some lyrics/repeats some things, etc.--neither of which were uncommon at the end of his performing days. It's particularly noticeable in "Luck Be A Lady" and "Mack The Knife," and during and after "Mack The Knife" we can hear him apologize to the audience for getting lost--who responds with applause.

Note that there are some breaks in "Mack The Knife" and "Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out To Dry."

Nice sound for an audience recording, with Frank Sinatra, Jr. conducting the orchestra.

30 years ago today Sinatra was in his final gig in London, performing at the Royal Albert Hall. Decent sound for an audience recording, and Frank Sinatra, Jr. was conducting.

The first song is the end of the opening act. Johnny Dankworth was an English jazz composer who wrote a lot of film scores. His orchestra was playing for Sinatra.
