1975-05-25
Frankfurt, West Germany
Festhalle

In May and June of 1975 Sinatra went on a European tour, stopping in England, France, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, and West Germany. Here we've got him in Frankfurt, West Germany, at the Festhalle--an arena that dates back to before World War I.

I'd describe this sound as on the low end of quality, but it's definitely listenable.

1. You Are The Sunshine Of My Life
2. Bad, Bad Leroy Brown
3. But Beautiful
4. Didn’t We?
5. Something
6. Nice N’ Easy
7. My Way
8. Monologue & Medley: Just One Of Those Things/It Never Entered My Mind/When Your Lover Has Gone
9. Cycles
10. Strangers In The Night
11. Let Me Try Again
12. Send In The Clowns
13. If
14. The Lady Is A Tramp
15. I’ve Got You Under My Skin
16. Introductions/My Kind Of Town
17. Put Your Dreams Away/Closing Monologue/Exit Fanfare

1962-05-26
Milan, Italy
Palazzo Del Ghiaccio

We stay in Europe for today's post but go back to 1962--still on Sinatra's World Tour from that year from which we heard last month when he was in the Far East. Here in Milan, Italy at the Palazzo Del Ghiaccio, which got its start in the 1920s as one of the largest covered ice skating rinks in the world.

Terrific sound with this one.

1. Goody, Goody
2. They Can't Take That Away From Me
3. Moonlight In Vermont
4. Without A Song
5. Day In, Day Out
6. The Moon Was Yellow
7. I've Got You Under My Skin (MISSING)
8. I Get A Kick Out Of You
9. Too Marvelous For Words
10. My Funny Valentine
11. In The Still Of The Night
12. My Blue Heaven
13. April In Paris
14. The Lady Is A Tramp
15. Monologue
16. All The Way
17. Chicago
18. Night And Day
19. I Could Have Danced All Night
20. Nancy

I'm including the CD art as well.

Note that the CD indicates that "I've Got You Under My Skin" was the 7th song of this concert but I don't have that. If anybody does, a post here would be most welcomed by yours truly :)

Bally's Grand
Second Show

After being in Europe for "The Ultimate Event" tour in April and early May 1989, on May 19 of that year Sinatra was playing Bally's Grand in Las Vegas by himself. Here we have his second show from the night of May 27, 1989. Frank Sinatra, Jr., who had begun conducting for his father in 1988, is at the podium. Nice sound for an audience recording.

1. Luck Be A Lady
2. For Once In My Life
3. Come Rain Or Come Shine
4. I Get A Kick Out Of You
5. Something
6. Summer Wind
7. Barbara
8. Mack The Knife
9. Monologue
10. Soliloquy
11. The Lady Is A Tramp
12. My Way
13. Strangers In The Night
14. New York, New York

1994-05-28
Las Vegas, NV
MGM Grand

We stay in Vegas with today's post, with this one being from the tail end of Sinatra's career. His last appearance on stage in Las Vegas was May 27-29, 1994, at the MGM Grand. Here's the show from the middle of those three dates, 28 years ago.

While his voice sounds good considering his age, there are more than a few instances where he gets lost in some lyrics/repeats some things, etc.--neither of which were uncommon at the end of his performing days. It's particularly noticeable in "Luck Be A Lady" and "Mack The Knife," and during and after "Mack The Knife" we can hear him apologize to the audience for getting lost--who responds with applause.

Note that there are some breaks in "Mack The Knife" and "Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out To Dry."

Nice sound for an audience recording, with Frank Sinatra, Jr. conducting the orchestra.

1. I’ve Got The World On A String
2. All Or Nothing At All
3. My Kind Of Town
4. For Once In My Life
5. Come Rain Or Come Shine
6. I’ve Got You Under My Skin
7. Monologue / Band Introductions
8. Barbara
9. Introduction of Barbara Sinatra
10. At Long Last Love
11. Street Of Dreams
12. Luck Be A lady
13. Mack The Knife
14. Guess I’ll Hang My Tears Out To Dry
15. My Way
16. New York, New York

Today we have a bit of history--Sinatra's last concert in Las Vegas from this date 28 years ago. Like the previous night, another uneven performance by Sinatra at the end of his career in terms of forgetting/missing lyrics. Nice sound, and Frank Sinatra, Jr. is conducting.

1. I’ve Got The World On A String
2. All Or Nothing At All
3. My Kind Of Town
4. For Once In My Life
5. Come Rain Or Come Shine
6. I’ve Got You Under My Skin
7. At Long Last Love
8. Street Of Dreams
9. Luck Be A lady
10. The Best Is Yet To Come
11. A Foggy Day
12. Where Or When
13. Mack The Knife
14. Guess I’ll Hang My Tears Out To Dry
15. My Way
16. New York, New York

London, England
Royal Albert Hall

30 years ago today Sinatra was in his final gig in London, performing at the Royal Albert Hall. Decent sound for an audience recording, and Frank Sinatra, Jr. was conducting.

The first song is the end of the opening act. Johnny Dankworth was an English jazz composer who wrote a lot of film scores. His orchestra was playing for Sinatra.

1. African Waltz - John Dankworth
2. Where Or When
3. In The Still Of The Night
4. Witchcraft
5. For Once In My Life
6. Come Rain Or Come Shine
7. I've Got You Under My Skin
8. Monologue
9. My Funny Valentine
10. I Get A Kick Out Of You
11. Barbara
12. The Best Is Yet To Come
13. Ol' Man River
14. Mack The Knife
15. Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out To Dry
16. My Way
17. Summer Wind
18. New York, New York

Note that this file is larger than other that I've posted in our journey this year as its in FLAC as opposed to MP3.
