Hello All,

Today, another installment of some old Frank Sinatra reel-to-reel tape transfers. This one brings us a few studio session tracks of various quality. The nice thing about these tracks is that in the case of the longer ones they are generally continuous uninterrupted recordings, unlike some of the various bootleg compilations out there like the Inside series.

Then, a really random undated 30-minute partial recording of Joey Bishop, Frank, and Sammy Davis at a 'Summit' at the Sands performance. Pretty rowdy one at that.

Come Fly With Me Session - 7min48sec
I'll Never Smile Again (Take 1 only) - 2min46sec
I Want to Be Around Session (Take 1,3-5) - 8min9sec
Love and Marriage Session (Orchestra Only Take) - 2min42sec
Summit at the Sands (No Date) - 29min13sec

Cheers! :Sylvia:

Thanks! I've never heard a "Rat Pack" as early as this one.
I wrote out a setlist for that part...

"Summit At The Sands", The Sands, Las Vegas
(Sinatra introduces Talk To Me as "a song I recorded about 5 months ago". He recorded Talk To Me in May 1959, making this show October 1959 assuming his "5 months" was accurate.)

Joey Bishop, Frank Sinatra - talk
Joey Bishop - I Love Vegas
Frank Sinatra - Talk To Me
Frank Sinatra - On The Road To Mandalay
Frank Sinatra - River Stay Away From My Door
Sammy Davis Jr - The Lady Is A Tramp
Sammy Davis Jr - All The Way
Peter Lawford & Sammy Davis Jr - talk
Peter Lawford & Sammy Davis Jr - Shall We Dance

I meant to say I've never heard a "Rat Pack" show as early as this one, the name in quotes as that's what they're sometimes known as. I'm not sure they ever used that name themselves did they?
Good question, this is from IMDB.com:

"Frank Sinatra's group of friends was known as the Clan. Sinatra's Clan included many of the same hard-drinking friends as Bogie's Rat Pack. The name "Rat Pack" stopped being used upon Bogie's death. Bogart was the official founder and leader of the Holmby Hills Rat Pack, as he called them. Sinatra, a friend, was a member and, when Bogart died in 1957, started calling his group of friends the Clan, which of course had Sinatra as their Chairman. (From Robert Osborne, Turner Classic Movies)."

Who knows at this point what the real story is. There's a great recording of Bogart and crew crashing the stage at a 1955 Judy Garland Concert in Long Beach. Somewhere I have the full recording of this -
