Thought some of you might be interested in this. There's a guy advertising a guitar chromeing service here in the UK on eBay...he's got a couple of Ibanez' like Satch and Vai's for sale BUT he can give you a quote to do your own guitar. It looks cool as hell (like the Satch Chrome Boy). Not sure if this link will take you there but take a look anyways...I fancy a chromed strat! :devilchil

only thing is when i spoke to Joes guitar tech, he said there were problems with the chrome and his new one is actually polished aluminum. that Gem look amazing though...especially the light dots...f'n cool

Yeah, that guitar is nice, but I thought you said he offered chroming for any guitar ?

I may be being stupid, but I couldn't find a link within Ebay, and his only other link was for an Ibanez Headstock sticker.

I once spoke with a local Chroming company about chroming wood. They were more than happy to attempt it but had reservations about the temperature of molten chrome on wood causing instant combustion and adhering to the wood. They used a special bonding agent to permanently bond it to steel or other metals. Apparently the bonding agent wont work on a porous surface such as wood. They did suggest the idea of powdercoating and polishing the finish. Powdercoat ovens apparently use a lower temperature oven that shouldnt combust the wood.
I have no idea what this guys process is but I dont see me shipping anything of value to risk a charred chunk of wood thats nice and shiny.
