the biggest thing is keep it clean and tidy Wipe it down along with your strings and body each time you play, wash your hands before you play. and occassionally use an old stiff toothbrush to get the crud out of the saddles and knife edges. Its a metal to metal contact so it wont last forever, but it should last a good long time.
