Hello ;)

I think about buying this 100w H&K as my first serious amp. Did anyone play on this amp? I play stuff like Opeth, Anathema, G'n'R, Creed, polish Illusion, Evanescence and heavier music - Children of Bodom, In Flames, etc.. Can I make very clear and deep sound with good reverb on clean channel and heavy, ball-ripping but selective sound on lead channel? I want to gig with it, and i think that 100 watts is pretty enough so i don't worry about power..

O thought also about Peavey Studio Pro or Bandit, which are to H&K in similar price. Are they better or worse comparing to Tour Reverb ??

Sorry for my bad english..

Greetings,
Peter

Hughes and Kettner amps are great for one sound. Each series they make is kinda geared towards a certain genre of music, if you are looking into really heavy distortion type stuff, you might check out the Hughes and Kettner Warp Series...very decent for the newer types of rock/metal distortion.

Yup, the Warp series sounds good on distorted sound, but i need a beautiful clean sound too.. ;) I am searching for distortion like Opeth in the newest LPs or sth like that.. I have Ibanez SAS32FM with mahogany body and neck and i'll put into Merlin Hellfire - very good pickup for heavy tones. Do You think that I'll get the sound like I wrote?

Um...if you need both, then Hughes & Kettner probably isn't going to have much to suit you. One thing you might try is the new Ibanez amps. I just bought one of the Toneblaster 2x12 combos and it rocks! It has a great clean tone. I use effects for all my distortions because I like the control I get from my rack effects better than my amp stuff, but if I sat down and messed with the dails, I think the amp distortion would be very usable for heavy stuff too. Best of all, it only retails for like $390 american or so. This is definitely my favorite amp I've ever played anywhere near its price range. Also, I didn't realize it when I bought it, but after I paid for it the guy handed me a 4 button footswitch that comes with it. It has a boost switch, a channel switch, a mid shift switch, and a reverb switch. Overall, I couldn't be happier with $400 spent.

DUDE!!! HELL YEA IBANEZ MAKES AMPS!!! They released the Toneblaster series within the last year or so I think, and I think there is a couple other amps they came out with recently too. I HATE Ibanez guitars, but I will swear by their amps. I love mine soooooo much. The clean is just that...clean, it doesn't add any flavor at all (at least the way I have it dialed in) unlike some other amps {cough}Marshall{cough} {cough} lol Sorry, got a little cough there...The distortion is a very good distortion, you can get a great classic rock sound as well as a fantastic modern rock sound via the build in mid shift feature. Also, it has a boost and reverb switch, so basically you can make this like a 3 channel amp. And best of all, the 2x12 combo is just over $400 US and the half stack is right around $600 if I remember correctly. Won't beat that anywhere!

Yeah that sounds pretty good - I need to go try one out.

For live playing I'm using a Peavey Musician Mark III Series amp head with a Music Man Bass cab. It works but I'd like a combo amp.
