i use the emgs 81 bridge 85 neck. i personally think they cover alot of differ. tones. i have a set in my ibanez, esp and jackson. so depending on the wood your guitar is and the amp settings you can cover all areas of metal. this is just my opinion. others may beg to differ.
Yea I'd have to agree. I bought a Schecter C1 Hellraiser w/ an EMG 85 at the neck, and an 81 at the bridge. Great combo. The ceramic based design of the 81 provides for some seaming leads and the lush warm tones of the 85 are no exception to their reputation either. It's actually the same combo Zakk Wylde and Kerry King use. (Except King uses a 20 db gain boost)
