Ibanez JS2000

Anyone have any experience with the JS2000, do they have better sustain because of the fixed bridge? Are they warmer?

I thought I had my mind made up between the JS2000CG and a JS1200CA but now I'm not sure. I already have a Radius 540 which has the Edge trem on it.

Thanks

I played one months ago at Sam Ash on 48th street in NYC. the neck felt great and it played like butter. just as good as my '92 JS-1. the bridge looks a little strange to me but that's really such a minor thing. i would have bought it at the time if i could have afforded it. i loved the color too...kind of goldish but not in a gawdy way.
Bought it!!!

Hey Axe,

Bought the JS2000 this weekend!!! What a guitar!!!!!

It is smooth. You can feel that it is a fixed bridge though, especially when your used to a Edge trem being on the back. That was my only hesitation, the fixed bridge. I was thinking "do I want to buy a JS without a trem?"

Right now I'm playng through a cheesy 30W Behringer so I cant really discern how good the tone is but I can tell that it is hotter than my 540.

Beautiful finish and build. I'm almost afraid to play it. It's like art.
Congrats...im sure it sounds sweet...funny that the Ibanez website doesnt say whether any of the js series is tremolo...i didnt know the 2000 wasnt....you can tell by the pics that have a bar.....i would probably go js1200, but i just found out that Joe is releasing a js-chrome guitar at the NAMM show the end of the month!!!....Looks like i will be purchasing it. Good Luck with the new Axe..i bet its kickin ass
Chrome

Yep, I thought I was going to get a JS1200 but I heard about that chrome today too and looks like I'll be going that way too!!!! Let me know if you see any pictures or hear anything!!!!!!
you bet Satchmo...as soon as i hear or see anything , it will be up in the Satch section
Fixed bridge

Hey axe, I was wondering why you, of all people, were interested in a fixed bridge JS instead of the tremmed JS's. It made sense when you said you didn't know.

I have played it some and need to have the neck readjusted. Too much tension.

Jeff
like i said..the Ibanex website does not define the bridges on all the js series as a tremolo or not....pretty stupid for a great guitar manufacturer....but the guitar gods made a dream i didnt realize i had when they announced the js-chrome...i just cant wait!....but i think joe uses that guiat but not sure if there was a tremolo....im going to have to check my pics to see if it had one or not....i would have been real dissapointed with a guitar with no barr. I guess its good for other styles that Joe plays that he prefers a fixed bridge....maybe
Fixed bridge

I was looking through some of my older guitar mags (I keep those with Satch)
and was noticing that right about the time that he did the self titled album, there were a lot of pictures which have him with the JS Mahogany with the fixed bridge. Which would make sense since there are some blusier tunes on that album and not many whammy stunts.

I bought it because I am kicking myself for not buying the Rainforest
(or Donnies) when I had a chance and I thought it would have a bit warmer tone and better sustain than the regular JS which they still make, unlike the 2000.

I am really psyched about the new chrome guitar though. I noticed in the latest Guitar One that there is a Dimarzio ad with a very "new" looking chromeboy. I did not notice the scratches in it unless they airbrushed them out. Speculation?????? Could it be?????

The wife already knows that i will be buying ANOTHER guitar this year when they come out.
Just curious axe, im guessing the lottery win was awesome for sustaining your guitar fetish? :woot: Ahhhhh, we should all be so lucky!

There's a guy over here who is chroming Jem's and other Ib's for a pretty good price and selling them on eBay. If anybody wants details, let me know. :thumb:

Which lottery win are you talking about ...the first one or the second one...lol
As for my guitar fetish, the members of Guitars 101 are fully responsible for it!...i was always the guy that said," if ya can play, ya dont need no fancy equipment"....growing up i saw so many players with great equipment who could bearly play and i had basically crap. But the tide has turned and i payed my dues...so luck was the reward!
What if you've been longing for a particular guitar since 1992? I can't play worth a damn but I have a $1100 guitar hanging on my wall.

This time around is the time that I am learning more than I ever have about the instrument and have all of these ideas pent up in my head that I am finally going to be able to get down on the instrument. I even started lessons again and am going on my lunch since it is the only time during the day that I have. I am more dedicated than I ever have been and this is it, so... I bought myself something I have wanted for 12 years. A JS. And soon I'll feel worthy of having such a fine instrument, maybe even two when the new chrome comes out.
i longed for the js for 18 years!!!!!!!!...was always the smoothest looking ibanez....and Satchmo, you are worthy!...i can clearly tell the guitar is in your soul...and its cool because it will keep rewarding you.....forever!
Axe,

I thought you might find this interesting. I put my 91 540 Radius next to the JS and it is shocking how similar those guitars are. I'm putting a Fred in the 540 which is part of the reason I went ahead and got the 2000, that 540 feels and sounds a lot like a JS1's, especially when I get that Fred pickup back in.

If you get the chance, find yourself a 540R and check it out. It may be a good secondary guitar for ya.

Jeff
thanks satchmo...but it looks to me that the chrome boy is going to be my last guitar purchase for a long time...that will make 8 electrics and 1 acoustic...running out of room and who knows if i will build another

Sounds like you are well covered Axe....and really there is no such thing as too many guitars. They look cool hanging on the wall, if you break a string, you can just throw it aside and grab another, and if you need to buy something else, you can always throw one on E-bay and get your $$ back. GC has JS-1's for $550 on sale this week, but all the Dallas stores were sold out...so I got an RG.

Let's see...I now have 5 electrics, 1 acoustic, and a bass.....I think I need to admit myself to rehab.

You won the lottery twice??? :wtf:  Theres something special about guitars in that even if you arent a great player or if you lose interest in playing, its still cool to own and acquire them.
