Beware This Is A Virus
Utterly nonsense! ...It's a flac file dumb ass?

tlh returned an error message and would not decode this CD - did it work for you?
I had no trouble using FLAC Frontend to decode (http://mikewren.com/flac)

TLH gives many false positives & there's no software tool that can reliably tell if a source is lossy. The best option is to use a spectrum analyzer to view the frequency. As for what I can tell, the codec is true PCM with a sampling rate of 16 bits at 48000 Hz. 48k is common for analog signals in PC audio systems, and to my ears the difference is audible.

Thanks for the post and all your efforts. I regret to tell you that this is lossy however. A frequency analysis gives it away.:icon_frow

Thanks for your input Atlasstar :) ...hey, that almost rhymes!

I've always been anxious to get my hands on these broadcasts in lossless quality & was led to believe this truly was. I too performed a frequency analysis when I first discovered this thread in 2010. I don't remember what software I used, but do recall that the bitrate appeared in acceptable range from the frequency response & visually it showed no 'haircut" either. I admit that I never been a pro at this, &, to my ears, it sounded like a pretty needle drop anyway. Therefore, I safely assumed this was the real deal. Strange that our friend & original poster Lypo disappeared & never completed this fine collection?

I'm very curious (& I'm sure others are too) as to what software you used to determine your finding. Perhaps you can also add a screen capture detailing your suspicions. Like I wrote, most programs give false positives, & it would really be helpful to lot of folks here to learn as much as we can. I for one would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks for the post and all your efforts. I regret to tell you that this is lossy however. A frequency analysis gives it away.:icon_frow

I use Adobe Audition 3.0.

From what I remember these files were found to originate from a series of DVD's that were torrent-ed several years ago

Thanks for your reply Atlasstar,

If memory serves me correctly, the 6-DVD release you mention was lifted from the "Bag Records" LPs, rather than the original "LLT" transcription LPs (which I assumed we have here). Since the "Bag" LPs were encoded into Dolby, they are indeed not lossless like you mentioned. The "Bag" release also lacks the interviews, commentaries and other dialogue from the original Westwood radio run. However this release seems to have everything intact including the interviews and Elliot Mintz's fine commentarys. While some of the shows do appear to have different sample rates, I don't think this was lifted from the DVD release.

I use Adobe Audition 3.0.
