As far as technique goes, he is definetly on the top 10 list for me. His Picking tech. is very very clean and you dont get hear as much of that little click sound coming from his pick attack. Never heard much of his stuff except for Glasgow Kiss and that one had a little bit too much of that heroic 80's sound in it. Not that that is a bad thing, it just doesnt appeal to me as much.

:thumb: I agree with you completely. I love his song work and everything. Dream Theater rocks (especially live which I have seen) And his solo stuff is good as well. His performance is smoking on G3, but I think his performance on Train of Thought is the most amazing thing he has done.

Totally agree with ya Captain......have seen him live three times myself...twice with DT, and on the G3.....he is definitely the most smooth, efficient, and SMOKIN' player out there!!! But Vai is right there with him, in my book!!!!:thumb:

I've been paying a lot of attention to John Petrucci and Dream Theater lately, John is such a big influence and inspiration to me, his picking technique especially is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!:Sylvia:

I adore the guy. I completly agree with most of you on almost everything. Like [email protected] i also prefer the Ibanez JP era. "Images and Words" and "Awake" are the BEST Dream Theater albums ever and then Scenes from a Memory. My fav Petrucci is on Liquid Tension Experiment 1 and 2. My fav JP lead tone is on the song FADING FAST from explorers club. People bash him saying he is a machine, but damn, have they ever heard EVE, Fading Fast, his spots on "Purple Rain" from guitar battle, Hells Kitchen, Trial of Tears, Scarred,..... i still havent heard ANYONE on earth who could play the finall solo of Inocence faded. I wrote something on the guitar rack :

Im relatively new to Petrucci, having been hooked from the G3 in Tokyo, which was slammin!

I havent really been able to get into Dream Theatre, but Im sure there is greatness in there from the sound of the fans...

I got his solo CD and its great. Excellent tunes on it, but its expensive.
