my email to ibanez

Look, I'm sure you guys get complaints all the time for putting guitars together rather crappy, however, they are overall very good instruments, aside from reall poor assembly. My high E comes off of the fretboard with any use of vibratto or tapping. I purchased a rg 1570 its a fairly good guitar, except for the high E coming off, that really sucks! I assume crappy assembly is covered under the warranty?

BB - I had 3 RG470L guitars from Ibanez and all had problems. I returned the first, then the second. The one I kept has the same problem as yours. Try loosening the locking nut and see if there is any play in it. if you can, try and reposition it slightly 1mm will make a hell of a difference.

They will probably reply, but I doubt it is under warranty. They will probably say something to the effect of the following:

Look, I'm sure you get complaints all the time for playing rather crappy, however, you are overall very good at strumming, aside from reall poor technique. Your high E comes off of the fretboard with any use of vibratto or tapping becuase you don't know what you are doing. You purchased a rg 1570 its a fairly good guitar, except for the high E coming off, you really suck! You assume crappy playing is covered under the warranty?
 Seriously though, good luck getting it fixed :thumb:

thanks very much man, do I have to take the locking "pads" or whatever off completely to move the nut?

nope - there are 2 hex screws holding the locking nut in place. loosen them a couple of turns and push the nut into a more suitable position and retighten the hex screws. Depending on how much play you have you may be able to make the guitar play a little better. If not then at least you haven't invalidated the warrantee :)
