I decided to give this one a shot today. As with my other stuff, I did the vocal parts on guitar. (a situation you're forced into when you're a lousy singer:laugh:)

I got about 75% of it, but will likely finish up the rest sometime this week.

Maybe this song is better as an instrumental. I usually like Steve Perry's vocals, but this song seemed like a bit of a sellout at the time as Journey moved away from rock toward corporate ez listening artists. You should finish this one.

Thanks, guys.

Although I like the song, the "Frontiers" album indeed was a turning point for Journey that wasn't necessarily for the better. A lot of their earlier stuff I find to be somewhat timeless, but albums like "Frontiers" and "Raised On Radio" sound quite dated now.

"Raised On Radio" made me absolutely cringe. During this period, they canned Ross Valory and Steve Smith, and whipped out the flourescent sports jackets and really bad perms.

::in best Elvis impression:: Uh, thank ya. Thank ya very much. :toothless

JD-I'll try to get the backing track on here before the end of the day or tomorrow.

(I'd love to hear one of the singers here do the vocals for this one, too)

gr8 job on this. I love this song. While I like the older Journey, you can't dismiss the tasteful style of Schon. Still one of the greatest in my book.

Yeah, and I think this was the period where Randy Jackson (the judge from American Idol) played bass for them. I have a couple of Journey DVDs and he is on a couple of the live videos from this time period. He looks hilarious. My girlfriend and I watch that DVD quite frequently when guests come over.

I can understand why people may not like later Journey, especially the way that Steve Perry just kinda decided he was gonna take over the direction of the band, and basically up and fired some of the long-timers. But I truthfully like all Journey music.

Very strange that this song popped up, as I spent a good part of this past Saturday trying to learn, practice and record the solo for this song. I've got it down pretty good now, however your tone in this recording sounds very good compared to what I had going. I'd be very curious to hear you finish recording the end of this song. This is one of my favorite Journey songs and Neal Schon guitar solos. It is very simple but effective and emotionally powerful.
