I recently managed to get myself a copy of Reason 2.5. I got it because I was thinking it would be a good program to do bass and drum lines with. Well I was right, but this program goes WAY BEYOND stuff ike that! I played this demo tune that comes with it and it absolutely blew my mind - you've got to hear it. I do not know anything about this program - it's got enogh buttons to keep an astronaut happy - or confused even.

Here's the tune:

Ok- Blue: Demo Tune

NOTE: I didnt make this - I only DREAM that I could tho!

I am a huge fan of Reason, RJ. Just upgraded to 3.0 when it came out. A buddy at work sold me a very sweet Roland midi keyboard controller and I spend hours using all the synths in that software. You're right about all the buttons, bro  Great program...I would recomend everyone try it.

I dont have a midi capable piano style keyboard to go with it. Whats one of those run? A very basic one is all I would need I think since I don't even know how to play piano.

I'm really interested in this program since I got an e-mail with a demo attached...but I thought the whole idea of it was that it was easy to use and that pretty much everything you would need to make songs is in there? Me and Geordie are looking at whats gonna be best to do gret drums AND fast and easy. I figured this might be it as I like the idea of opening your software and being able to do the lot pretty much. What price is this in the US?

Reason is class but it still requires you to do a bit of midi programming or enter the data in via a keyboard controller. the really is no getting away from it mate :D Personally I prefer more conventional programs for drums such as Groove agent or Battery - but there are loads of others out there.

So which program do you use for bass and drums and such in your tunes? They sound pretty good really. Reason looks awesome, but DAMN! I am totally intimidated by it. Figuring out how to do a single bar of drums took me about 30 mins. And that was when I was not even trying to do anything that sounded good! :) (Plus I dont have a midi keyboard.......)

I use Super Quartet for Bass and Native Instruments Battery for Drums. they are not perfect but they sound more real than anything in reason imo. Thene again I should probably try harder in reason :)
