I have an oil finished swamp ash guitar body that I am thinking about painting. Will the paint adhere properly considering the oil finish? I know that filler will have to be used too, but I don't want to dampen the tone. Any advice would be appreciated..............

Oil finishes are hell to get paint to stick too. you might be better off scratching that idea and starting on a diff guitar.

I'm doing an oil finished guitar, the grain is pretty nice and I thought it would look good totally natural with a maple neck/f.board. I'm adding a chrome scartch plate as a finishing touch. Wood can still look money if the grain looks good.

according to the manufacturer, the lin seed oil finish can be removed using mineral spirits. It will take paint well after that.
