I'm looking at this setup. I think its a good deal and sounds sweet but just looking for some input before I pull the trigger. Its a Peavey Classic 50 with 1 15" and a matching 410 cab. It has been gigged but its in good shape. Any thoughts and what do you think it's worth? Thanks.

I have its little brother, a Classic 20, and they are sweet little amps. I don't know what kind of music you play, but if you are going for a shred type/metal tone, I don't think you are going to get it. But if you want a SRV to classic rock sound I think it would be great. As for what it's worth, I'm not sure, you might check ebay or harmony central.

i have the middle brother i guess...classic 30.
it's the best amp you can get at this price, imo.

about the classic 50, it's basically the same amp with more power.
the natural gain of those amps is for classic rock, not more.
if you're lookin for a hard rock/metal sound, you won't get it.
but....what are stomp boxes for.

I have looked through ebay and I am estimating $750 range but this deal is in the $625 to $575 range. The style I would expect from this would be a classic rock/blues tone. I have another setup for a metal tone. I have been thinking about concentrating on mastering more of a blues style and I am thinking this will inspire me to persue that at a reasonable cost. Thanks for your input. I've heard some good things about the classic line. The combination of the 15 with the 410 cab seems to give some real nice range.

I pulled the trigger on this deal over the weekend and I am really happy with the results. The 15" really has some punch and matched with the 410E cabinet it's a nice setup for sure. Looking for a strat now.

Actually the name plate says Blues Classic not Classic 50. I guess the 15" is the difference. I don't see many of them around. On its own it sounds good but with the 410e cab it really sounds sweet. There is not one mark or tear anywhere on either piece. I think I got lucky on this one.

I actually own a Classic 50 4x10 combo with the 1x15 extension. Great amp. I play a 62 Fender Jaguar through it and the thing really sings. The Amps distortion is really nice but if you want something a lil more...well alot more I suggest trying Danelectro FabTone in yer chain. Those 2 pieces of gear were made for each other. But make sure you use an earlier model of the fab tone. I have tried newer ones through it and they sound thin. I think they changed resisters or something. But trust me for open back cabs...that amp roasts alot of cojones.

Sure you can shred with a Classic 50. Just replace the Blue Marvels with a set of Celestion Classic Lead speakers. It sounds like a Peavey XXX!!! It just will not get as loud.
To hear what a Classic 50 sounds like set up this way listen to the lead guitar of the band NYOS on MySpace. The set up for the lead guitar is a Samik Custom With Dimarizo Fred bridge p/u and a stock neck p/u. Effects are minimum (mostly echo when needed) played through a Boss GT6 processor. 90% of the time it is just the guitar and the amp! Sounds pretty wicked!!!!

Check out lead in the song Abe the Avid Bartender
