Hello I am new to the site, and I just had one question. I play alot of fast metal, and yet I cannot get that good scraping sound, like in the song Holy Diver by Killswitch Engage at about 0.46 seconds into the song. Is there a certain way its done? I mean I can pick scrape but I cant get the crunchy or thick of a sound. Any help would be appreciated

it might come down just to the right levels on the EQ or adding a bit more overdrive. I'm not familiar with that guitarist's sound and rig, but for a good crunchy pick scrape, start with the pickups. Get a good balance across them, using the bridge more than the neck. What distortion do you use? Add more gain and make sure you scrape the right string. It can sound different from string to string.

Just experiment, bro. Different picks, like metal, plastic, or those weirder materials will make different sounds. Distortion, clean sound, what pickup you're using... What kind of wood your guitar is...
